This game has a great murder mystery plot with lots of twists and turns. It seems that nearly everyone has a motive while the culprit is slowly revealed. The only draw back to the story is that the detective communicates with ghosts, so that took the story down a notch for me. The puzzles, both HOGs and mini games are very doable and some were actually fun. The art is very nice with no dark and dreary scenes dripping with death and decay. It takes place inside a mansion and most scenes have a cozy pleasant feel. Some of the voice overs were a little saccharine but that was easily skipped. It's rare that I like a game enough to play it twice but this was worth it. Bring on Cursed Cases 2.
I recommend this game!

As others have pointed out the story is very interesting with the evil mother-in-law to be focused on saving her son's life and not so concerned about anyone else but with a bit of a twist in the end of both the CE and the standard versions. The scenery was very pleasurable, there were gorgeous winter landscapes with sparkling snow and northern lights. No dark, dreary, depressing scenes here. Voice overs were well done. Some of the puzzles were very easy but I don't mind that, it makes the game flow faster it also makes it a good game for beginners. The personality test in the CE version is a lot of fun and different from the usual extras. This is definitely a good one.
I recommend this game!

I played the demo and thought the game might be fun to play around Halloween. As others have said it was much too over the top. Though I only saw the beginning story it was too violent for my taste and involved a child...not appealing. I wasn't sure if I liked the repetition of going back to the beginning of the scene or not. I can see where it would get old but it did give me a feeling of urgency. However, the part where I was asked if I would gamble with my soul was just not acceptable. I don't care if it's a game, the answer to that question is always no. I stared at the screen for a second or two, hit "NO", exited the game and uninstalled immediately. Call me superstitious, I don't care, I'm not even pretending to sell my soul in a silly game. What for? What was the game creator trying to achieve with that? As others have posted, I normally like games from that company but will now think twice before purchasing from them again.
I liked the first chapter of this game so I bought it, not realizing that the rest of the game in no way resembles the first chapter. I actually liked the murder mystery feel to this game that some others have said they found boring I also had multiple dislikes. As others have said, the mini games were too easy and had a pointless feel to them but I also thought that some (especially those that involved several layers) were pretty good. What I really disliked was the flagrant devil worship references and symbols that saturate the game after the first chapter. It's depressing to spend time wallowing in that stuff and I stopped playing part way into the third chapter. Since when are inquisitors the good guys? Just a very twisted tale of evil and torture that I had no desire to continue.
I played the first one and purchased the second one without even trying it. This is very unchallenging, fun and relaxing, like the first one. Basically the second one is a similar game (many of the same scenes, same main characters) with a change to the map feature. When I came to the end I started feeling a little sad, lol, my cruise was ending! As others have said, there is no creepy, dark or supernatural anything in here, no one is murdered either, which is a nice change. Don't know why I like these but if you like old style HOGs with almost no story line and relaxing (elevator) music then these are for you.
This game isn't the greatest of challenges but the scenes are very pretty. The graphics aren't the best I've seen but the bright and beautiful design of the castle and garden make up for it. The music was relaxing. So many games have recurrent death symbols and are all dust, rust and dungeons with skeletons everywhere, not this one. As others have said the puzzles are not different from the usual and the HOGs have an occasional extra step to finding an item. Some have posted having trouble with glitches, I had none, the game ran smoothly. This was just what I look for in a game, not too hard and a lovely escape from reality for a few hours.
This game was stunningly beautiful! All FROG games and every item you find you use. Puzzles were just right for me but I don't like to spend loads of time on them and I never had to skip one. I didn't turn off the music -I usually do- and the voice-overs didn't make me cringe - and they usually do. As others have said, Blue Tea Games tends to turn out high quality material and this was no exception. This was a refreshing game that transported me to a peaceful, gorgeous realm for many hours of game play. I'm also partial to the sword and sorcery genre. The CE is well worth the extra money as it adds 3 more long chapters and some new rooms to the game. If you like beautiful fantasy games this one is for you.

I really liked this game! The CE is definitely worth the extra money because it has a nice long bonus chapter that ties up loose ends of the story that are not addressed in the SE. It's a really pretty game, not all dark and depressing, lots of attractive winter scenes. It had just the right amount of HOGs. There were items that needed to be assembled within the HOG, not from items that had to be found elsewhere, which I appreciated because for some reason I hate having to get out of a HOG to go look for an item to complete it. The puzzles were not particularly challenging for me personally but I've been playing these types of games for a few years now. The game was still fun and flowed smoothly, I didn't get stuck and have to refer to the strategy guide at all so that was nice. Thanks BF and Friends 4 Games, I'll be looking for the sequel.
