Hi all! As usual, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story to other who do a much better job than I. This game as some very nice graphics, very clear throughout. Animation is very smooth and realistic. Game play was excellent with no problems during the demo and the scene fit my large screen quite well. Voices are very well done, age and character appropriate. There didn't seem to be much in the way of dialog, but what we had was well done. You can't skip through dialog in this one, in case you read faster than they speak, so you have no choice but listen. If you skip it, you don't miss anything, so far. There isn't a lot of music in this game, which suits me fine, but enough action to have realistic sound FX between the dialog and the music. I found the story line to be somewhat different, and as I said in my header, an urban legend, which is a bit different. If you don't like scary, don't try this one, although I did not see anything that jumped out at me or scared me either. It all depends on your scare meter.
HOPs are a little different in the way they are set up and are varied. The scenes are fairly clear and items are not that difficult to spot. I did not see that you could switch to anything else if you did not care for the HOPs. Puzzles were mostly quite simple. The only real challenge was the maze. These drive me nuts, but I do like the challenge. The hint system is helpful and we do have a transport feature. This is quite helpful, as you do a bit of back-tracking. I did like that in some cases, whatever you found in this room, you used in this room. That saved some running around and wasted time. The strategy guide is the same as usual. The jump map is rather boring and plain, but it does show if you have missed a collectible.
Collectibles were a little disappointing. We have to find 25 paw prints, which are not hard to spot, as most are quite large. Some do blend into the scenery a bit, but still easy to see. We also have to find 9 character statuettes. These are easy to overlook, but not hard to see. This game could have used a little more, maybe some morphing wolf faces or something.
This isn't a bad game at all. It moved a little slowly, but I found it interesting. I think most all levels of players would like this one. For some reason, I find the need to have it in my collection. I like urban legends and this one intrigues me. Yes, I'm adding it to my long list of CE games.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the reviews.
I recommend this game!

Hi all! Well, it looks like this is #5 in this series. I only have 3 of them, don't remember why. As usual, I mostly review on the game play and leave the story to others. This was a very short demo, even though it said 90 minutes, I still had 45 minutes left. That said, it is not always easy to make a fair review when the demo is short, but here goes. The colors in this game were very nice and bright, but not over-powering. Graphics for the most part were well done and clear, and moved in and out of scenes smoothly. We did have a couple of areas that were a bit blurry, but cleared up. I did catch something odd. In the beginning, when Bogdan turned sideways, he was about as thick as a piece of paper. It was very quick, but I know I saw it. Might have to replay to see it again. Voices are okay, but our lost explorer, Dave, sounds a bit whimpy. Maybe I've just watched too many Indian Jones movies. I did love the sound FX, very realistic and constant, so no dead silence, even though there wasn't much in the way of character interaction. Game play was quite good.
HOPs are just plain, unless they change up as you progress in the game. All we had during the demo was straight lists. Did not see that we could switch to something else when we got bored. Puzzles were very simple, and a simple story board "find this part and place it here" type of thing. We do a lot of back-tracking and I was beginning to get real tired of it when the transport finally kicked in. The map is set up nicely, but would have been better if it indicated whether or not you found all the collectibles. Strategy guide is the usual. The need to find a plant or animal spirit to help out was a bit much. They are too far and few between to keep you interested.
Collectibles are very disappointing. We need to find 80 owls. These aren't all that easy to spot, but so far, they have all been large enough to see. They are different sizes and shapes and most scenes have more than one to find. Definitely could have used a bit more, or at least made them morphing. I thought I saw one morph, but I clicked on it to quickly to know for sure.
This one started out very well, but then quickly fizzled out. The game moved too slowly, but then seemed to start to pick up again when it ended. Don't know if I want to spend the money to find out if it does or not. Same old story, just don't feel this one is CE worthy. The game is just too simple for me, but I think it would be a very nice game for beginners, or someone who just wants a lazy day no brainer. I have a number of those myself. I will recommend this for beginners, but probably not for seasoned gamers. I gave it a 3 because I liked the color and sfx, not for the story or challenge.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may find this one to be exactly what you are looking for. Thanks for the reviews.
I recommend this game!

Hi all! Well, we have another game to add to this series. As always, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story to others. This addition has a lot more color than previous games in this series, which really makes a huge difference in how you look at a game. It's not dark and gloomy. Game play was very good, with no problems during the demo. Graphics are very nice. Not a lot of character interaction, but what we have is well done. The voices have just enough of a sinister mood to get you interested. Sound FX are very nicely done. One thing I didn't care for was the need to choose dialog. Fortunately, it wasn't constant. The other was the constant popping up of the "achievement" reached notice. If I want to know, I'll look at the end of the game. This was very annoying.
Hops are quite different than what we are used to in this series. We have a combination of story book word, silhouettes and interactive HOPs. Scenes are no where near as cluttered as in the past and are nicely done. Items are not difficult to find. I did not see that you could switch to something else, but you might like the HOPs as they are. Puzzles were very simple and had almost too many at once. Each time, you have to complete multiple levels to get out of one. Got tiresome quickly. Hint system was mostly helpful, but occasionally said "nothing more to do here." No, there was no transport feature either. Strategy Guide was the same as all other games, but was helpful if needed. The jump map was rather bland.
Collectibles were very disappointing. All we had to find are coins. Not sure what they do, since it just said "pick a card." Definitely could have used more in this department.
Still, this one was far better than the last few, and definitely had an upgrade, but could still use a little more work. I didn't even mind the story, but if you don't like the circus, don't bother with this one. No clowns jumped out at me during the demo, but we do travel back in time to "save" people, so there is a bright light. I'm not sure this one is CE worthy, due to the lack of better collectibles, but I did find it interesting for some strange reason. I will end up getting this one, I just don't know which version yet. I may have to get the CE just to find out what happens when you collect all those coins. I think most levels of players will find something good about this one.
As always, give it a try and see for yourself. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the reviews.

Hi all! As usual, I mostly review on the game and not much on the story, as others do a much better job than I. This addition is set up exactly the same as all the others in this series, as far as game play and such. Very nice animation, with mouth movements and all. Voice overs are well done, and are age, character and setting appropriate. Graphics are well done, very clear and without blurring when moving in or out of cut scenes. Colors are nice and bright without being over powering, even with a bit more orange than usual. Game play was very good, with no problems at all during the demo. The sound FX are really very nice and well done. You mostly hear wind blowing and see the trees and leaves moving in the scenes. SFX are very clear, footsteps, keys unlocking doors, etc. When something is about to happen, the music takes off.
Hops varied, with interactive lists, matching pairs, straight lists and a storybook "fill in the blank" type HOPs. We don't have something different to switch to if we don't care for the HOPs, but these are very nicely done. Puzzles were not difficult, but did have a little challenge to them and some did take me a little time and thought to complete. Hint system is quite helpful and it does transport to longer locations. There is a lot of back tracking, as usual. Didn't even both looking at the jump map. I did note that some items that we need to pick up in scenes are very small. I found a few quite by accident.
Collectibles are nicely done. We need to find 48 jigsaw pieces, which are fairly large for the most part and easy to see. These can be anywhere. We collect 12 pieces each for 4 puzzles. We also have 26 morphing objects, which all seem to be musical instruments, just different colors and shapes. They are quite large, but be on the lookout for them, as these objects morph quickly. We also have 12 cards. Don't know what they do, but we need to find them. These are quite large, but easily missed, as you don't think about them when picking up something else within the scene.
These games in this series just seem to get better and better. When I beta tested it, I gave it a 4.5 on my beta scale. We seem to have a bit more dialog in this one, which makes for a more fun game. A game has to be exceptional in all aspects to get 5 stars from me. That said, I really got into the story in this one fairly quickly and as usual, the demo left us with a cliffhanger. The game did have enough action and constant movement to keep me interested and I find that I have the need to play this one out and see what is happening and why. I think most all levels of players will find this one interesting, a bit challenging at times and somewhat fun. Yes, I am adding this one to my collection.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the reviews.

Hi all! Okay, I admit it, I'm a Big City junkie. I love these silly games, and I have every single one of them. They are nothing but straight HOPs, but they are relaxing and fun for me. The graphics are better with this addition, and colors are quite nice. Not sure why they give us a button to adjust the voice volume, because there aren't any. No sound FX, just music that can get annoying very quickly. The one thing I have always not cared for in these games, is the extremely blurry postcards...why? I would never send anyone a postcard that looked like that!
The HOPs have been cleaned up a bit. They used to be quite cluttered and items were very small, but this is much better. Still, not all items on your list jump off the page at you either. Some are quite well hidden and blended into the scenery. We have to find 60 shields in this one, which are quite large, brightly colored, and very easy to see. Don't know what you get at the end when you find them all, but I'm going to find out.
Not much of a review for this one...just a nice HOP for a change. If you like the others in this series, you will like this one. It's a nice change from the creepy, scary, kidnapped stories we get all the time. Yes, I am going to add this one to my Big City pile.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the review.

Hi all! As always, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story to others, who do a much better job than I. Graphics in this addition are quite ice, even with the blur you get going in and out of cut scenes. Colors are very clear, bright and true. Game play was excellent, with no problems during the demo and the scenes fit my large screen very well. Animation is excellent, with eye, mouth and body movements. Voices are nicely done and are age and character appropriate. At least they don't sound like someone is just reading from a script. You can click through the dialog if you read faster than they speak, without missing any of the story line or clues. Music is okay and does not over-power the voices or sound FX. The sound FX are very well done and constant throughout the game. I did have to laugh when Sanderion was injured and bleeding. All he needed was a bandage wrap to stop it, when in reality, he would have bled to death with that much bleeding. A bit over the top on that, but I guess we aren't supposed to notice things like that.
HOPs are wonderful and varied. I liked how we also had puzzles within a HOP. Scenes are clear and items were not difficult to find. We do have a match 3 if you prefer that over the HOPs. Puzzles were somewhat challenging and fun...good thing you can choose easy or hard. They do take some time and thought to complete. Very well done. Hint system is very helpful, but I didn't see that we have a transport feature, unless it shows up later in the game. This has happened with a few other games. However, we do have what I feel is the perfect jump map. It has everything, pictures of every location, along with the location name and whether or not you missed a collectible. We even have a portal to other worlds, and a very nice story. What else do we need?
Collectibles are many...we have to find 20 artifacts; 64 gems of various colors and 20 morphing plants. These can be quit challenging, as some of the items are pretty small and not as easy to see as you think. That's why the map is so helpful. It's easy to miss something and it tells you if you have. The more collectibles, the happier I am.
I liked the last one in this series, but not as much as I like this one. The story is interesting and pulled me in from the beginning. I don't know if the demos was short, or if I just got so engrossed in the game that I didn't realize how fast the time went, but I was disappointed when it ended. This is #6 in this series, and yes, I am going to add it to my ever growing CE list. I think this one will appeal to all levels of players, mostly because even if you are a beginner, you can choose the difficulty that fits your level best. I do not give 5 stars easily, as a game has to be exceptional in all areas for that. This one fell short because of the blurry cut scenes when going in or out of the scene. Still, I gave this one a 4.75.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the reviews.

Hi all! As always, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story line to those who do a much better job than I can. I think this is #5 in this series. I have all of the others, but not all are the CE versions. The graphics in this one are quite good, and very clear with nice eye and mouth movements. Colors are very bright, clear and true. Game play was excellent, with no problems during the demo and the scene fit my large screen very well. Animation is done very well, although, some movements seem to be disengaged from the body, e.g. Queen's hat rocked back and forth like she was wearing a bad wig in the wind...weird. Didn't notice that with any other character. Voice overs are age and character appropriate and well done. I did find it annoying that we had to click after each sentence to move to the next one...just talk already. I really like the sinister sound to the cursed guards. Music is well done and not just a few notes played over and over. The music was almost too soothing for the time period. Again, Mr. Jenkins is here to help out in high or tight areas and is constantly grooming himself, except when he is needed to help out. When needed, he will meow, do his job and then go back to grooming. He is very quiet. We have occasional bright lights, but mostly when the guards appear and disappear. It is not overly bright and not a bright flash.
HOPs are somewhat boring for me. We had the storybook type highlighted words and lists. Some of the scenes were a bit cluttered, but are not too difficult to find. We have an annoying clunking sound when we click on something we shouldn't, but not a game changer. You can switch to a match 3 if you wish. I normally don't care much for these, but this one is a little different than most and is a little challenging. Games were not difficult, but some did take a little time to complete. I do like that we can choose between easy and hard. Hint system is very helpful and it does transport you to longer locations, which is a big time saver. There is a jump map that identifies where a missed morphing object is, so you can go back and pick it up. Did not care for the screen jumping every time I moved the cursor.
Collectibles have a little challenge. Actually, the challenge is remembering to get them. You need to find 40 morphing items, which are cats of various colors and in various positions, e.g. sitting, standing, laying. They morph quickly but are not hard to spot. You also need to find 14 collectible cards, which I found in close up scenes. They are fairly large and easy to spot, you just need to remember to pick them up.
When I beta tested this one in December, I think the title was different, but same game. I liked the story and how nicely it flowed. Very easy to follow. This is why I am going to add this one to my collection. I do not give 5 stars easily, a game must be exceptional in all areas, but this one was not. I gave it a 4.25 for the reasons listed in my review. I think this one will appeal to most all levels of players. It has a little bit of everything.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the reviews.

Hi all! Finally got to this one. As usual, I review mostly on the game play and not the story. Graphics are a bit blurry in this one, but cleared up somewhat as the game progressed. Story book scenes were still a little blurry. Colors are very bright, but not over powering. There is very little dialog, but voices are okay in what they have. Sound FX are interesting, supposed to be sounds of wind and such. Every now and then you have a sudden close-up shot that is geared to scare you, but it didn't. The sound we get with a wrong click is really annoying. Music isn't bad but even on low, it seems to over-power other sounds and voices. Game play was good.
HOPs are a combination of lists, highlight words and silhouettes. Some HOPs are repeated more than once, which made the beginning quite boring. Some scenes are a little cluttered, but mostly okay. Puzzles are very simple and take no time at all to complete. Hint system is very helpful and we do have the transport feature for longer locations. This is very helpful, as we are constantly jumping around in and out of other dimensions. Got old real fast.
Collectibles aren't bad, but are very simple to find. We have 37 morphing items that do morph fairly quickly, but still easy to spot. We also have 38 moons to find...these are very easy to see. No challenge here either.
I am never sure how people can give five stars to every game they review, even if they don't care for it. I think I'm more critical. This isn't a bad game, but there is no challenge, the story was very choppy and it is not CE worthy. This game is geared more toward the beginner who just wants to see how to play and not care about a story or challenge. I have a number of no brainer games for those lazy quiet days, but this one just didn't do it for me. I couldn't get into the story and it definitely needed more character interaction. I'm sure there will be others who really like it, but it just isn't for me. No buy today, but I will recommend it only for beginners.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may find this one to be exactly what you are looking for today.
I recommend this game!

Hi all! As usual, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story line to others who do a much better job than I. Looks like this is #10 in this series. I do have the others and like this series, except for a couple of things they just can't seem to fix. One that really bothers me the most is the color. If it weren't for the blue undertones in every scene, I think the colors would be very nice. Very tiring on the eyes. That said, the graphics are very nice, clear and realistic, even in close up scenes. There isn't a whole lot of animation, but what there is, isn't bad. Music is the standard as in all of the games in this series...soothing until something is about to happen. The voice of our heroine is somewhat boring, no emotion, just reading a script. She doesn't do a lot of talking and some things she says are sort of silly. Very few sound FX, which would have been nice in this one. Game play was quite good and the scenes fit my large screen nicely.
HOPs were just interactive lists. Items were easy to find and the scenes were fairly clear. If you got bored with them, you could switch to a jigsaw puzzle. I am a major jigsaw person, so this is my favorite. Puzzles weren't difficult at all, but a couple did take me a minute to figure out, and I did run across one I hadn't seen before. Hint system is very helpful, but I did not run across a transport feature in this either. However, the jump map is nicely done. It identifies the area with name and picture, as well as letting you know if you missed a collectible. Strategy guide is the same as all other games. I use it mostly to see where I missed a collectible, if I can't find it on my own.
I love the collectibles in this series. They are quite varied and I don't seem to get bored with just morphing items or the like. Yes, we do have to find 33 morphing objects, which aren't as easy as you think. They morph fairly quickly. We also need to find 6 of each item related to lust for power; spiritualist; greed and fear; freelancer and magic. These can be anything and are easy to miss or ignore, so be on the lookout, as some are a bit small.
This game is not really challenging, except to find all the collectibles, but the story flowed easily and was somewhat interesting. Even though the color drives me nuts, I have the need to play it out and see where it goes. Yes, I am going to add this to my collection. I think all levels of players will find something fun and/or interesting about this game. No, it does not get 5 stars from me because of the color, but because of the collectibles and story, it does get a 4.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the review.

Hi all! As usual, I review mostly on the game play and not the story line, as others do a much better job of that than I. Well, it looks like we have #8 in this series. Naturally I have all of them, but not all are CE versions. Graphics are very well done, right down to the wrinkles. Some close up cut scenes are a bit fuzzy, but not too bad. Colors are bright, but not over-powering and very nice. There seems to be a bit of a long lag between some scenes for some reason, but not overly long. Game play was excellent, with no problems during the demo. Voices are well done, with some fear, urgency, etc. I just had a feeling about our boat guy. He is kind of creepy. You can click through dialog if you read faster than they speak, without losing any part of the story, or any helpful information. The sound FX are very well done and realistic. Music is not bad and changes, depending on what is happening at the time. Animation is really nice and fairly realistic. Be aware, things do jump out at you, even got me once, I hate that!
HOPs are extremely well done, and the same as in the last game in this series. You have a variation of interactive lists, highlighted words, morphing items and interactive silhouettes. Scenes are clean and clear and items are not difficult to find. You can switch to a match 3 if you prefer. Puzzles are challenging and somewhat time consuming, but not bad at all. Mostly, it pays to think a head a bit before making a move. They do take some time and thought to complete. The hint system is quite helpful and it does transport to longer locations. The map also saves you time, but again, I found it to be rather bland and boring. This one has no area identified by anything other than the name, so you best be remembering what each location is called. Definitely needed to show a picture of the area.
Collectibles were disappointing, but nicely done. We need to find 21 morphing items. They morph pretty quickly and are not as easy to spot as you may think, so be on the look out. Didn't find anything else, but definitely needed more in this department.
The story is nicely done and I found it interesting, much better than the last one. I was surprised at how short the demo was, or maybe I was just too engrossed in the game. As usual, I don't give 5 stars easily, a game must be exceptional in every way to get that many. This game was lacking in a few things, but still well done. There is also some whispering when you find objects. I know what I hear, but you may hear something else. If this stuff creeps you out, think twice about this game. That said, I like this series and I think most all levels of players will find it challenging and interesting enough to purchase. Yes, I am going to add this one to my every growing collection of CE games.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the reviews.
I recommend this game!
