Anyone who's played a previous Park Ranger game will recognize this latest volume -- the recycling and wildlife IDs, the familiar puzzle types, major characters, music, sound effects, etc. There are new locations introduced, though, and a general feeling of freshness to this version of the game. The families we usually see so much of are no longer a significant part of the game, which works to improve the flow of the game. There's nothing especially fresh, but this edition has the graphics and playing length to take its place among the best of the bunch.
This Paint by Numbers game offers good value if you're looking for a calming way to "color" digitally. However, I found myself thinking over and over how absolutely ugly most of the color palettes are. In virtually every case, there are color clashes that hurt the eyes. There is an overuse of garish or neon colors that overwhelms some of the subtler shades in the finished picture. If some basic color theory was used, these coloring exercises would be far more attractive and fulfilling.
I recommend this game!

This game was very enjoyable. Finally something that offered a storyline and venue that was a bit out of the norm. The 17th Century Japanese landscapes were really quite beautiful and the music was nice as well. I found the puzzles to be just the right level of difficulty for me personally (which is sort of advanced beginner to medium expertise level).
I'm sure you can get a more thorough picture of the game storyline from other reviewers here. I would definitely recommend everyone download and try the game demo.
Unfortunately, I can't advise purchasing the game in this version. Why? About 80% of the way through the game, my game got hung up and I could not proceed. If you check the community blog, you'll find several dozen people with similar issues. However, based on the feedback in the forum, I'm sure BFG and the developers will be releasing a new version shortly. And when that happens, it's a definite buy.
I don't recommend this game.

First, I like most games, and I realize that most of the games we play take place in a world of fantasy, make-believe and the supernatural. That's a lot of what makes them such a great escape. But I found this game required way too much traveling back and forth from one end of the town to the other for objects located in places that really made no sense whatsoever. Even the items in inventory required to obtain the special objects didn't behave in reasonable ways. There is a map which indicates where uncompleted tasks are, but there is no way to move instantly from one spot to another. This got extremely tedious, getting worse later in the game, and I wasn't motivated enough to finish.
