Hope these devs make some more games. Don't know why there's negative reviews. On reading them I decided not to bother with it, then read the positive ones today and decided to give it a go and glad I did.
Very user friendly game, and challenging for a change. Wasn't dark on my screen. Puzzles a bit different, and HOPs nicely done and not too difficult.
I'm playing Advanced, but there are two harder levels and an easier level.
I love all things spooky, and this game is spooky. Music in keeping with theme.

Just loving everything about this game! The way you can interact with so many items is amazing. Love the HOPs; interactive, varied and really beautifully done. Hunt for puzzle pieces and morphing items. Map, 4 modes including custom mode and a little imp helper as in the other games in this series. The trial hour flew by, and I thought I'd write this now as I want to get back to playing it. The music is nice and the graphics are fab... All in all one of the best in a very, long time!

This game could have been excellent with a few tweaks. When a game gives you endless sparkles pointing out where all the items you are looking for are, then it's not a game but a right drag! Why didn't they consider the hint system enough?
Its kind of TM meets HOG, and I would have bought it in a nano second if the devs didn't think of their audience as too stupid to think for themselves.
It's not a HOG when there are no hidden objects! At least not ones with flashing stars all over them. Ended the trial after 45 mins as that's all I could take!

This game is up there amongst the best. Several modes of play (including custom). Graphics were phenomenal, music in keeping, clever storyline and as is usual, some collectables. These were coins to buy your raven (yes, there's a feathered helper - but it's not used too often) some items such as a cage and perch, plus many 4 leaf clovers found in each scene.
The puzzles were clever, beautifully done and not too hard. The HOPs were some of the best I've seen, and I looked forwards to them for a change. A good cross section, which were interesting, made you think but not overly difficult.
The 'Shadowscope' got a bit tiresome. It involves reading a story and putting shadow cards in the right order. After the first couple of these "games' I got a bit bored with it.
The main game took about 4 hours with few hints/skips used.
My main gripe was the short, pathetic bonus chapter. It took less than 30 minutes to complete, and I was totally uninspired by it. Wish devs would remember we pay double for the CE, and whilst we get an SG and wallpapers, its the bonus game in the main we pay the extra for. I'm getting to a point of not bothering with CEs, as I don't feel I get my monies worth anymore...

I read the rave reviews and was excited to see the Mac version appear. After almost an hours trial I really couldn't wait to delete it.
In this day and age I expect more than a repetitive M3 with no power ups, and just click after click to drop some items to the bottom. In one puzzle there were three boards, but no moves on the bottom board so you just click, and click, and click on the other boards which still make no moves available. You click on the frog to scramble the board, but still no available moves but now you've got to wait for the scramble button to be available....
The only other bits of interaction are chatting to folks you meet along the way (their mouths don't move), and collecting a couple of items to bake bread or make a potion.
The puzzles I came across were extremely easy, although nicely done hence the 2*.
The HOPs were nicely drawn and items easy to find but junk pile with no interaction.
So I really don't get this game other than it's a yawn. Waiting for something more interesting to happen but it never did.
With a few tweaks (interactive HOPs and some power ups and/or puzzle pieces to collect in M3 games) and it would have made an interesting and cute little game.

Really great to have a game with no' HOPs. Puzzles rather ordinary, and repetitive but skip button did't take long (in adventure mode). And a SE that's not born out of the dark ages.
Hint button was excellent, and needed to be as lots of travelling from scene to scene, and age to age.
Took about 2 1/2 hrs with quite a few puzzle skips. Rather a lot of chit chat, but could easily skip it.
Graphics were nicely done, and music was pleasant.
A game of finding useful inventory items in each scene, and the item bar had a button to see what was in the bar, without having to scroll.
Really enjoyed it, and played right through to the end. Hope theres a sequel to this game.

Whilst I know this series of games is popular, I find the game play tedious and boring. Love the fact there's a customised mode, always an A+ in my book. Great graphics, music, jump map and helpful hint system. Collectables abound plus there is a crescent moon to find in each scene. I like FROGs, but there's way too many and it gave me a headache searching for weird shapes coloured to blend into the background. Puzzles in the hour trial were quite easy, and beautifully put together.
My main dislike is the fact that many items are the same colour, and the only way to distinguish them is by shape. There were also some interactive inventory items in the game.
I buy most CEs, but not this one. It didn't float my boat, hold my interest and it's all been done before. Nothing much sets it apart. I'm sure it'll be popular with many, but I got bored with it. My eyes were strained far too much hunting for fragments of who knows what!

This is the best SE I've played in years. It had two play modes (I played the more difficult one). The graphics were excellent, the storyline very funny and loved the music. Rarely do I read all the chit chat, but did with this game as it was cleverly written.
Quite challenging, although hint mostly told you what to do next. A jump map included but didn't always tell you what to do next.
The HOPs were excellent, and not too many of them.
So hoping there's a sequel (ending hinted there might be). If all games were of this calibre I'd be a happy bunny!

Really enjoyed this game. It ran so smoothly on my Mac without a glitch, hint system and jump map are excellent (didn't need SG at all), graphics are superb and music not too intrusive. Not too many cut scenes or long boring dialogues either.
4 choices of game mode including 'custom' which is always a bonus. We the customer can choose the way we want to play the game, rather than the devs deciding for us.
Loved the HOPs. Quite unique and a variety of different ones; a few junk pile (but they were interactive). Liked the idea of looking for a number of the same items in some of them.
You've an owl helper (Gears), but he's not needed that much so not as annoying as they can be.
There are collectables in the shape of cards. I missed quite a few, and wish I'd picked them up in each scene as there is a 'Treasure Hunt' at the end of the game, and it was quite laborious going back to collect those I'd missed. To do the treasure hunt, you firstly need to build a house of cards.
There are some morphing items in the HOPs, but I only found some of them by accident.
The bonus chapter was, as is usual, far too short (especially as it's double the price of the SE). Always get the feeling the bonus chapter is a bit of a bore for many devs. It wasn't made up of lots of HOPs though.
Had all I love about HOPA games, and really is a quality game.
My only disappointment was that, on finishing all necessary tasks so I could enter the casino, the game I wanted to play was a big let down. Amongst a variety of games, is Solitaire. My favourite computer generated card game. But you can't use any cards already placed on the stack, so the game is pointless! You're supposed to clear all the cards, but in this game's version it was nigh on impossible. Once you'd stacked the cards (and I only had a few left to finish the card game), I had to abandon it as the cards I needed to 'get out' were firmly unavailable from the stack...so after collecting 'all' cards, finishing the treasure hunt and accessing the casino I realised it wasn't worth the time and effort involved.
Been a lot of hum drum games lately, but this game is anything but! Elephant games are mainly excellent, and this didn't disappoint.
3 play modes (although do wish we'd get a custom mode too to do away with black bar tips), plenty of collectables including morphing objects, map, hint system excellent and takes you to a scene with an objective.
Amazing graphics, music in keeping, not too many cut scenes and not too many HOPs. The HOPs were really good, and for once I looked forwards to them. A good variety of them too.
Puzzles interesting. A few along the lines of the MCF games, but not as complex (thankfully).
The bonus chapter was ok. Short as is the norm it seems, although at the end you could enter the secret room and search for a selection of morphing objects.
Really enjoyed this game and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great HOAG.
