The puzzles were great, a few too many sparkly hidden object scenes, but went along logically UNTIL THE END. Horrible end. Had to go back and forth several times since i found things in a different order than the walkthrough, the dates to solve the gravestones were totally bizzarely placed and the end was no ending at all. Very disappointing. After all, you did buy the game and deserve a decent ending without having to buy the higher priced edition.
So disappointing. Mortimer doesn't even look like himself. Different game. Some really difficult puzzles. Not at all like the Mortimer Beckett games previously. Not as much fun. I wouldn't recommend it.
Each scene has 5 sites which each have about 10 different games to play--anywhere from HO to puzzles--lots of fun. The only downsides are that you cannot choose which game you want to play, you have to play them in order. However with several different screens, each with 5 sites, there is usually no trouble finding one you want to play. The only other downside, for me, is the floaty cursor. Makes it very difficult to place puzzle pieces and there is no option to change to regular cursor. I could do without that.
Surprisingly, this was a really long game with tons of games and puzzles. I love that the hint button replenishes so quickly. Unfortunately, not sure if I just had an off day, but the majority of the puzzles I ended up skipping because they were too hard or didn't seem to work the way I thought they should. I didn't really mind, I was caught up in the story. I highly recommend this game.
The graphics were good but the storyline was hard to believe . You're presented with tasks with no way to complete them because you don't have the right tools and can't get them. The hints made no sense at all.
I only played the free hour and would never buy this game. I've never had to hit the hint button so much before ever. Could not figure out one single thing. Just frustrating.
I wanted to like this game but the items to find are so small you have to strain your eyes to see them. e.g. White objects against a white background. Its not relaxing, its eye strain land.
I loved this game. When you can play a game through 2 or 3 times and still enjoy it, you know you have a hit! I did have to skip a lot of the puzzles because they were too hard for me (which is why the 4 stars) but other than that, I liked the way everything fit together and it pulled me right along.
While you would expect a solitaire game to be primarily solitaire, this one advertised a detective story in addition. I played for the free hour and never got any part of the detective story. For me, it became boring just doing the solitaire without the story line coming into play.
