This is like the old Mystery Case files games that used to be fun .... not like the recent editions in that series. I'm happy to have a great new game series to follow. The puzzles were fun and the tasks interesting. The game had the right amount of spooky but not gory or gross. It's a long game which I also like .... I hate for a good thing to end too quickly. A great game!!!
I recommend this game!

Grim Tales: The Final Suspect Collector's Edition
There’s a corpse in your house, but who killed him?
I don't know if all the games in this series play like this, or if others are better, but I found this 'game' to be completely irritating, and again like the other game in the series I attempted to play, I only managed a few minutes. So I guess, take my 'review' for what's worth......
What I didn't like:
It's not immersive. I am not a child and don't need the game to constantly give *instructions on what to do or what's going on -"Now ask Jackie why you're in the hospital" .... okay you've asked Jackie, now "read the case file" she hands to you. As you complete each action a GIANT full screen announcement alerts you "TASK COMPLETE" ..... for crying out loud..... where is the fun in this? Not to mention the permanent "strategy guide" link on the screen interfering with the visuals..... nothing to like here folks.
I'm looking for a game that is made for adults (I grew up back in the stone ages before the internet existed....). I don't much care for games that are what people describe as "intuitive" as I find most often that shows up as lacking demand for critical thinking. Is critical thinking not a desirable part of gaming for people? Legitimate question, that.
A fun game for me needs to be immersive, challenging, and aesthetically engaging. This wasn't any of those things.
I don't recommend this game.

Grim Tales: The Legacy Collector's Edition
After being invited to the Christening of your sister’s son, you arrive to find a deserted estate! Save your sister before it’s too late!
I checked a few times to be sure I hadn't accidentally silenced anything, but I played for 15 minutes and there was no creepy 'set the scene' background music and little for sound effects. It made it very boring to play. Who would've thought the music is what sells the story?
The first puzzle I solved was also pretty low resolution and that again made the whole thing feel cheap and uninteresting.
I normally play Mystery Case Files but their recent installments were such crap, I had to search for another similar series. I played Grim Tales: Bloody Mary and thought it was pretty good. I then tried this game, and 6 minutes into the trial, I quit and uninstalled it. Am I missing something that makes this game fun?
My eval: the initial task lacked creativity and demanded no skill even playing in advanced mode and I find that irritating.
Additionally, and this is only after 6 minutes of gameplay evaluation, but the stupid curser (like we find in other games sometimes) is HUGE. Why the heck does it need to be so big?! This drives me nuts. It's like I'm dragging a manhole cover all over the screen with me.
Can BigFish Games please make games for adults too? This might be interesting or challenging if you're 10 years old..... what about the rest of us who want something fun to do while locked away during quarantine.
This game was boring. The graphics are terrible. It's like playing with paper dolls.....flat and boring.
First my overall opinion is this has the feel of the cheap hidden object games that none of us want to play in favor of the more carefully crafted MCF games. The graphics were cheap looking and I can't stress this point enough. It was like a very flat, paper doll puppet show with simplistic renderings with clunky, uninspired objects to handle and a ridiculously large cursor. I don't generally play MCF for the storylines but for the aesthetics and puzzles so my view of this game is heavily influenced by that filter. I don't appreciate the spammy announcements alerting me every time I discover a morphing object or hidden tarot card - who are they announcing that to? I found it, I already know that I did, I don't need the screen clutter and disruption from the game. It detracts from if not totally spoils the immersion into the game itself.
I found the game play to be impossibly irritating. It has some of the easiest and and most post head-injury friendly puzzles of all time. There is zero challenge in the game - you don't have to remember anything. You can only solve what's in front of you and what's hidden in object A goes to object B and then you recover item from object B and it goes to object A in the exact same location for the entire game (or I imagine the entire game as I'm so disappointed with it, I'm not sure I want to continue to the end.)
I gave the storyline 2 stars as I appreciated the concept of delving into the backstory of one of Madame Fate's characters.
It's time for MCF to learn how to continue building great games in the same theme without cannibalizing the best elements from the past games.
I thought The Harbinger was a cheap knock-off undeserving of the MCF brand and I don't recommend it.
We've played MCF since it's beginning and I appreciate the evolution of the game in terms of graphics and puzzles and storyline however convoluted and nonsensical some of the 'stories' can be. This game failed to offer anything new to the series and basically pirated a bunch of the winning elements from past games into a hodge podge of overly simplified 'puzzles' that had maybe one or two that offered any challenge. The story was pointless and uninteresting and overall a disappointment. I bought the game nearly a year ago and only just now played it and it really wasn't worth whatever I paid for it. I hope the next in the series is better....... Harbinger and Crossfade......... perhaps MCF peaked at Madame Fate?
I don't recommend this game.

Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall
Expose the fate of Jessalyn Thornton and unveil the truth about a family ghost in Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall
I think the story came out a little disorganized at times but manageable. The plot didn't get lost, the challenges were fun and sufficiently challenging and the design was really pretty. :):) Good job, whoever made this!
For comparison, we recently bought ND Creature of Kapu Cave and quit that one as we thought it was TERRIBLE. This one we liked a lot!
Clearly someone worked very hard on this! We loved it!!!! The graphics are beautiful. The hidden object puzzles were appropriately challenging and the storyline was clever yet easy to follow. The puzzles great (some of the them were hard!!) . We kind of fell into a binge this week and have played 6 games - this is definitely my favorite. :)
One last thing ..... we skipped buying the CE game as we didn't think we'd want the extras.....now I wish we had. I think it's definitely worth it.
