I have never played a Mystery Trackers where I really needed the Strategy, but in this case, it was no help at all when I really needed help. The hint just said to stay where I was, as did the map, but I didn't have something I apparently was supposed to get in a prior location. I can't go back and fix that, so I cannot go forward. I am deleting this game and making a note in my spreadsheet of BigFish NEVER to play again. Don't put my in a loop that you can't get out of.
This has a good variety of HO locations and in each you search with words, scrambled words, missing vowels, images, etc. with each separated by a "game" (word search, mahjong, match three, etc. All of the "games" are used in each location, so you get good practice. The problem that dropped the rating was a language issue. I know that the developers are not native English speakers, but I suggest they have someone review their text. Here are some examples: ask for a squirrel when it is a chipmunk (every other time it was really a squirrel), ask for a flipper when the item is a spatula (only once for this one), ask for a teapot when the item is a pitcher (when there were many other times there really was a teapot). It didn't ruin it for me, but it occasionally made me irritated that the "ask" was wrong. I finished all locations and found all special items that gave me the final game and unlimited searches, so a VERY LONG game if you want to play all the unlimited options. That was a plus.
The title almost says it all. If you have played other games in the series, you immediately recognize the slimy (in personality) character. Isa returns to try to revive the Metal King to take over the kingdom. The Earth Princess is the heroine with help from an Elder and lots of puzzles & HOPs. The puzzles are relatively easy, although I do play on casual level. I admit to being irritated at the Elder almost as much as at Isa as the Elder pops up just in time. It's an average game, but worth a few hours.
This is my first very negative game review. I really tried to like this. I even persevered when the game hung up - usually on the match threes - but when it crashed my computer, that was the last straw. I've marked my personal records never to play this again; after all, I own over 800 games via Big Fish to choose from. Here are my comments on game play: music was fair; visuals at least were cute for the characters; but play got to be boring with too much repetition for me. I gave it a level two rating since it was okay for the first 20-30 levels, then went downhill. I can't believe this series has so many games in it. I'm glad I purchased it as a daily deal, so don't have much invested, except time.
I enjoyed this but I felt it played short. The extras were disappointing - no game replay of puzzles, HO's, or collectibles. It did have the standard wallpapers and music, but I have never used the wallpapers or listened to the music again, as it generally is too repetitive to want to listen to again. The game was better than average but not up to others of the series. I was surprised that, after I had selected to play as a female and had a female voice for the main game, the bonus game had a male voice. It was a bit jarring. If you like the developer, you will probably enjoy the game.
You learn the truth about members of your family and who is really good and bad. There are choices you have to make but, since I only played once, I don't know what the differences are if I had made the opposite choices. Decent map, but don't think that makes it easier to figure out what to do once you go there. I've played earlier games in the series and like that it is the princess who saves the day (with a little help).. No cute pets, so that was a plus. Repetitive use of an amulet, so that got a bit old. The balance comes out in the middle for a rating.
You figure out the ending long before our "hero," Ben, does, of course. This badly needed proofreading for spelling, e.g. jornal for journal. It was too adventurey for me. Yes, there are HO sections but I rarely have to use a hint more than a time or two in a game and I used it - a lot. There is no map so I had to wander around to figure out what was next - not a favorite task. The cat helper was smarter than Ben and knew when it could or could not be useful. Some people might enjoy the slow, steady pace, but I just wanted it to be over, although I did finish it. You couldn't even skip the credits but had to watch to the end because there was no way to close it or go to the menu. Not for me.
I have mixed feelings about this series as they are dark and sometimes too creepy for me. This one was just ok but the visual quality was good. HO's were a little different and interesting as each item was used to find/use the next. That I liked. You play as the young man with nightmares but why do you have them? That's the plot. I skipped a couple puzzles due to frustration in having to repeat the same action over and over.within a puzzle. It's fine if you like the dark games.
Thank goodness for the map because there was a lot of back and forth. Fortunately, if there is nothing marked as active you cannot go back to an earlier area, so check out the items you have, as you might need to put something together rather than go somewhere. Pretty decent creep factor and variety of HO's and puzzles but nothing too hard. It gets an average rating because there are just so many of this type of game - your relative (a niece here) is taken and you must rescue from some monster. Does that sound familiar? Okay if you like this type of game.
20 locations and not always the obvious city; search with word, riddle, & silhouette; find extras to get unlimited search in each type. Also standard puzzles, e.g., block slide, mahjong, match 3. Music got repetitive but not offensive. Good color and generally findable items. Used a couple hints and groaned when I saw where they were hiding. Items can move around from one type of search to another, so not as easy that way. Thanks!
