The game, with the graphics and what needs to be done, is more for children. Story is simple, graphics are simple. I love Roads of Rome, I almost all of the 12 labours of Hercules, Incredible Dracula, all the Moai series, New Yankee series, My kingdom for a princess and more. I truly miss coming on here and having fun games like those. Not just running around picking stuff up in the road and using it to finish the game. But having to find the right way to do things, having buildings that you build to put out resources. Seems like a lot of these more adult type games are just not being created anymore. And I don't have a child in the house, so I have no need for games made to appeal to children.

I jumped for joy when I saw a new Roads of Rome. I have been a great fan. I nearly bought it without playing it first. I am So very glad I didn't do that. I played the first two boards, saw it was simply a snatch and grab game now instead of working and clearing your way through the game like the previous ones. This had 'hidden' stuff that was so obvious a child could find them easily. And maybe that's what this game was created for? for 8 to 10 year olds? Not for adults who liked the old style. If you like this everything on the road that you just pick up type of game, go for it. But if you don't... then it won't be for you. I reply all their previous Roads of Rome games as I love them that much. I never tire of them.. But this. I won't even continue to to board 3 in free trial period.
I played the demo and was pleasantly surprised. Difficult enough. Sometimes just a little monotonous with going back and forth between the rooms. I don't like when a developer makes the game last longer by go to one room, go back to other room, go back to first room, then go back to second room.. Then finally go on to third room. But just when I was like... Oh no... not this monotony... I didn't see anymore of it. A little back and forth but great game play. I thought a few of the mini games needed a little explanation as I took longer to figure out what was needed. Once I got what I was supposed to do, was difficult enough but not impossible. I'm not a person that likes story lines that much, but this story line was interesting. Might even buy to see how it all ends. Hopefully the ending won't disappoint... but a few have said it did...
I only played the demo version and I admit I didn't get that far into it. Was just too boring. This is the type of game who likes more story line then actual game play. I prefer a lot of game play and a little story line. Mini games don't count to me as game play either. I want to be looking for things, I want a lot going on, I want it to keep me busy. I don't find any story line entertaining, I'd rather was a tv program or movie. I do think an interesting story line can help any game. I wouldn't want a game with no story line either. I won't buy this game or recommend it to most. But I do think maybe a beginner that likes a lot of story line and not to do that much work in a game might enjoy this. I also turn off music and sounds in any game so I can't offer anything on that. But the speaking sounded just fine.
There's little to do but build very few things and then wait around and send the cavemen out to collect the items the buildings are making. I was bored out of my mind. I love collection games, but this didn't have substance. Very cute graphics, cute story line. I was so excited to see it and so ready to play it. Then I saw all the reviews and jumped immediately into playing the game. And by the end of the first board I had hoped that the second board was better... it wasn't. Then by the end of the 3rd board I knew I could not go onward. Use the Free trial before buying this one. Now... I do think maybe a young person might like this. Someone around aged 8 or so, when they aren't into clicking and working on getting things done fast. I would recommend as a young childs game but not as an adult game.
I didn't like that I could not enlarge the screen to full screen. Though Full screen was set up, it still only opens in the middle of my screen with a ton of nothingness around it. Opens so small. No matter what I tried, I could not make it enlarge to most or all of my screen. I'm on a laptop and not a phone. Wish the creators would make two versions, one for phones and one for computers to stop this issue. I don't use my phone for games so a game made for phones is pointless to me.
I was excited to get this game. I barely tried the trial before I went ahead and purchased. I, somewhat, regret that decision. There's not many games coming out that I like, lately anyway. So happy there's something. The difference in this game is you just go back and forth between boards trying to gather enough stuff to get enough food to be able to do things. It is constant. It isn't in a challenging way like before. Before you'd be on a quest from one board to the other. Now... just hunting the normal eggs and mushrooms for food. Yawn. Feel like I am running in circles just to get enough food up to try to do something. I preferred having people ask for things and then going and doing it to make money and be able to rest (without hunting food constantly). I am about a quarter of the way through (I think, possibly 1/3rd?) and I hope this gets better. So far they have me gathering items I cannot sell so it doesn't help me at all. If you love the first two... I think this is going to be a bit of a bummer for you as well, just like it was for me. Seems like they didn't want to do much this episode like think up quests for our Hero to go on. Buy this knowing all of this. Don't replay the first two in the series before playing... and then maybe you won't miss how well the first two were made and feel shorted in this third version.
If you are on the computer version there is a whopping 10 lava stones with the generator per day. And if you are really lucky there are 2 to 4 that the lemur will find once you get the lemur. Making it impossible to ever purchase the second creation bowl (let alone think about the third). I think it was a neat idea to try to make a game that lasts a few weeks. But they really missed the mark when it came to making the game interesting every day to make playing it for a few weeks worth while. Basically, once you get past the first two to three days of play it becomes this game where you sign on twice a day. Sign on, make a few kids and see who died. Maybe collect a build and start a new one. But some of these builds are 12 hours for one piece to make something. 30 to 40 hours to build one item is just too much. Some of the builds are 24 to 48 hours for one item to be created. There's not much else to do either. Having only tech points to 'purchase with products' is really worthless after you've upgraded fully in chapter two. Since I am on 12 hour builds, it leaves little for me to do. I do like that a childrens school comes into play in chapter two, however it is in a very high traffic area and the children dart off and run. Making them hard to catch and boring to sit and continue to put them back on the school over and over again until they are taught all they can be taught. Healing hut in part 2 is also nice, but quite frankly the people don't go and train themselves. Leaving you to sit for hours mindlessly putting people on the hut to train them. Boring, boring and more boring. I am really bummed... Had they made little things that could be done to earn lava stones, that could have been worth while. If there were a few things that one could do daily or even every other day. Things to pick up and do slight builds. Things to achieve. Things that are more interesting than just dragging a person back again and again to a hut. I heard that in past games (this is the only one of these I've ever played) that the chief could teach others. That would be interesting.
Let me start by saying how much I love the Hercules series. I have been a big fan and own them all. I love all the games that are based on gathering and beating the time, I don't buy anything else . I always try the game first and I must say after 3 levels I am bored, that never has happened with most of these style games. But this one seems like it was made for kids from ages 5 to 9. Everything is big and overly cute and not very pleasing in my opinion. I'd agree it seemed very slow paced and I felt like I was waiting for things instead of having to plan out a strategy. I was actually so bored I quit playing, this after I nearly jumped for joy seeing a new TM that I thought I'd like. So I am really bummed that this game turned out like this. I'm going to go try to force myself to finish my trial to see if it gets better... but the graphics really ruin this for me.
I am a huge fan of TM games. I have never had difficulties getting to the gold in all the other games. I found I couldn't get to gold once I got far enough into the game. Generally I am complaining that there's too much time and gold is way to easy to get. So was glad to see it a bit more difficult. But then it gets too difficult later on in this game.
the reason I gave this 3 stars is I love the boards are bigger than usual TM games.
The reason I took off 2 stars is there are 21 boards total. That was a True bummer for me! Between that and it being overly difficult to get gold... 3 stars is the best I can do... and if I could give half stars this game would be rated 2.5 for me.
