This review is based on the demo. There were the usual three levels of play, a jump map, the strategy guide, and morphing objects and acheivements! I love it!
Your sister is kidnapped by the Crooked Man and you have to rescue her, of course. You have a good hint system and you can access the SG in a small way during play. The usual wonderful graphics and voice overs from a great developer, Blue Tea Games. No voice sync, but it wasn't needed in my opinion.
Well, I'm off to buy the game with the dollars off coupon; it makes this a sweet purchase. Have fun everyone!
To save your father from a hideous monster, you've decided to sacrifice your own freedom. Now you must journey through a strange and magical land before time runs out!
I'm basing my review on the demo which was about 50 min. I loved it! This game is the best type of adventure game, in my opinion. There are hidden object scenes, but you can choose whether to play them or play a mini-game instead. I chose the HOS, which were very good without being piles of stuff. There are three levels of play plus "Custom", but I always play on casual, mainly because I play for fun and recreation; I don't want to have to fight my way through a game and I hate using the SG or Walkthrough. The story is that a man who travels the world stole a golden nightingale from a monster's castle for his daughter. On his way out, the monster threw a ring into his boat and told him he would have to serve him for the rest of his life or give him his daughter, or die. The daughter overheard him talking about it to her boyfriend, Dorian, and of course, she wants to go to the castle and serve the monster in his stead. She meets helpers along the way, including her boyfriend and the golden nightingale. There's a Weepie and various tree dwellers and flowers. There's also a witch that wants her out of her kingdom. The graphics are wonderful and bright and there is some movement of the characters' mouths but not real lip-syncing, which doesn't interfere with the game play. The music is very nice. There is a map that I think will send you where you need to be, I'm not sure about that. I can't wait for a special; I have to get this game now! Everyone should try it first, but I believe this one is a definite keeper.
This Collector's Edition of this game has a lot going for it. We are Emmy's aunt searching for Emmy in her dreamscapes. There are two levels of play, aspect correction for those who need it (it fit my 25 In. screen perfectly), and great lip syncing. The graphics I thought were a bit blurry, but they sharpened up after the spiders' webs were removed, and spiders' webs and spiders were plentiful in the trial time period of one hour. There were the usual puzzles, minigames, and hidden object scenes that were pretty easy overall. I liked this game, and will buy it since it is on sale today. I recommend everyone should try it before you buy it.
It's possible that I just don't know what to expect in a good true adventure game because I buy mostly HOPAs. I bought the first one in 2010 and liked it, and I wanted to have this one as well. However, when I played the demo, I got no real directions on where to go or how to get there, the hint button took about 55 seconds to recharge on the easiest play level, and there was nothing to tell you what to do with the objects you collected in the first half of the demo. I had nine things in my inventory with no clue for where to use them until there was 13 minutes left in the demo, then I was able to use two of them by going to the SG to find out where to use them.
I am an avid game player of HOPAs and I can't think of another game offhand that made it so difficult to play that I said a cuss word or two, shocking my husband (because I generally don't talk like that#.
Anyway, just a note to gamers: play the demo if you haven't already done so, before you buy. If this is how true adventure games are played with such high reviews, I don't think I'll be trying another one any time soon (sad to say, because I believe in giving anything a chance).
Sorry, Big Fish and anyone who gets to this review, this game was just a terrible disappointment.
I don't recommend this game.

Pride & Prejudice: Hidden Anthologies
Explore the rich world of Jane Austen’s most beloved novel, Pride & Prejudice! Enjoy this Hidden Object Adventure and get a new perspective to the classic story.
Pride & Prejudice is based on the novel, which is rather stuffy, from what I recall from reading it many years ago (in high school in approx. 1972..lol). A great novel, but a little boring. Anyway, I agree with most that the graphics in cartoon style did nothing for the game; they should have been much better (to overcome some other bad points maybe).
The fact that we have to click everywhere in a scene to know what to do is only a small problem, imo. Usually we don't get to click too much or we get penalized-not here--It's a must.
I enjoyed the demo, and found the amount of reading not too distracting. Howerver, it also does get a little annoying, but not as bad as the music. The music drove me nuts..lol.
The 3-star rating is for enjoyable game play, but not good enough to buy. I will, somewhat reluctantly, recommend playing the demo and making up your own mind.
Once upon a time in the small, undistinguished town of Silentville people started disappearing. Help uncover the mystery behind these disappearances and save the town from a curse!
I don't do this often, so bear with me. This game had some great graphics as for color depth, but the hidden objects were so small you can barely see them, and it's more of a FHOG, or fractured HOG, which makes the items very small with very little to help find them.
It also seems, based on the demo, that there were very few HO scenes; most, if not all, were a supply closet/room in the train station that opens the game-I went to that same area four times! The story is ok, nothing new--in a town where lightening #rather than a dark cloud# has taken out all the people and you're there to find them.
Hint recharges quickly and there didn't seem to be any penalties for clicking. No other help though. I was left stranded in this train station with a couple of people and there's no way out; all people that were inside when the lightening appeared are still there and can't get out.
Looks like anyone would be able to play this game, but because there is limited assistance, it can be confusing. Overall, I think it is a little boring and frustating, and I played on the easiest level. It's worth playing the demo and deciding for yourself--you might like it.
I thought I would see a modern, funny, curious game, but what I got was a tiny, unfunny, and no longer curious game. May be good for children but not, IMO, adults.
I was pleasantly surprised with this game's overall look and sound. Most HOG/Adventures are dark and gloomy, which I love, but a lighter one is welcome occasionally.
The storyline was the usual for HOGs-kidnapped child, an "other world," and the "hunters" from that world. This is ok IMHO; there is enough that's different, fresher, than the rest of the HOGs out now, to keep my attention.
I really liked the suspense butlding right from the start, which means I have to buy this one to find out what's happening next...lol. Mini games on the demo are not too difficult.
Great graphics and use of color. Many games that are set in the present day are lacking in the artwork department somehow though I can't think of an example right now.
Overall, I like this game--even the much-used story line. I'll wait for the SE, though, because I think, and hope, the game is long enough to keep me entertained for several hours without paying the CE price.
I don't think I've ever played a game offered by BFG that I hated-until now. This game had written dialogue in which English and grammar were awful #not sure of the nationality of the developers; maybe they don't know how to write in English?#. Also, even when the directions were given for the puzzles in this game, they were way too easy for adult play. I do not recommend this game to anyone over about 10 years old!
