I like most of the EIPIX games, they have some fine ideas, and some great art and music. But its like they have been saddled with MCF and resent it mightily.
I know that without the visionary MCF won't be exactly the same again, but the last few games haven't even TRIED. I don't need 2 games a year, or for them to come out early, what I really need is ONE (1) really good MCF game. I would settle for one every 2 years if we could get anywhere near the old quality.
The story line should have been fabulous, wanting to die but not being able to is a deep subject that could have been done well, but....
There is no attempt at good graphics (please, this is 2017 and old people DO NOT look like that ever.)
There is no challenge....I was excited to see the Rube Goldberg type games back, I loved the challenge, the debate over "do I look at the guide, or do I just keep trying..." ? Never did I even contemplate using this guide. My 5 year old, playing the extras, finished them within a minute or so and said "um, that wasn't very exciting!"
There was no real atmosphere to this game. Sorry, color and a funky looking viking princess statue. does not an atmosphere make.
The story has no real satisfying ending, but then neither does the game.
On one hand, I like Eipix games, yes, they tend to be a bit similar, but I can count on a highly enjoyable moderately challenging game that I can play with my young son and we can both enjoy. In that respect this game did not disappoint. The HOs were good, and the disappearing object made them a bit more of a challenge than normal. The puzzles were great fun, and made me think. Also, when you buy one of their collectors additions you usually get your moneys worth. As a "Eipix Game" this game was great...and I would have given it 5 stars. The problem is.....
This is not really an Eipix game. This is A "MYSTERY CASE FILES" game. I did not want Eipix to "create" me a world, I wanted them to return me to one. This they failed to do.
As a MCF game, this game is sadly lacking. I felt nothing, the music didn't inspire, the scenery didn't inspire, the characters didn't inspire. I am at a loss as to how this could even be considered a viable MCF franchise game. I am so disappointed, I don't even know how to explain it.
And, I wonder if the Beta testers had a different game than I did.
I loved this game when it came out, and I love it now. One of my all time favorite games. Beautiful scenery, great sounds, well developed characters. The only series of games that i actually "missed" when i finished it.
However, this is not a relaxing, mindless, timefiller game. You must invest yourself in it, and you have to think creatively. If you don't like hunting, searching, clicking and walking/running back and forth you will become frustrated by this game.
This game really "stretched" me in game playing. It was my first adventure game, and so far I haven't found many to rival it.
Syberia I and II are by far my all time favorite games, great game play, great graphics, great music.
The story draws you in, and keeps you there. First games that I was saddened when I was done. I highly recommend them.
I recommend this game!

Very unexpected game. I enjoy being drawn into the storyline, but I never anticipated being so sucked in that i had withdrawls when it was over. I'm and intermediate player, so the game was a bit of a challenge, did have to use a walkthru cheat once or twice. Didn't really detract from the game. This game took me several days to get thru, and i consider that i more than got my money's worth.
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.
Good game, Loved Charles, and loved the music/graphics. Didn't mind the searching for morphing objects as opposed to finding hidden objects.
But, not up to the Ravenhearst series standards in my opinion. Definitely not the psychological thriller it could have been. I am usually on pins and needles during the game, and am a little wound up by the ending. Once you got to the last part, (the "New" house) the game itself sort of petered out. Not use to that in a MCF game. I got the feeling that they had a great idea and ran out of time. Yet, you are surrounded by a broken down old house and dangling bodies...I expected so much more.
Fun, but not up to par with the other games. I feel that BFG's game prices are fair, even if the game isn't always to our expectations.
