I am so glad I found this game. I love the artwork -- lovely to look at even in the HO scenes -- and I am glad that the game doesn't make you feel rushed to get through so you can take your time and enjoy all the fun things there are to see. These are unquestionably the best HO scenes I recall seeing in any game -- clear and well-drawn but not super easy. I love the music and sound effects and humor and animations, e.g. leaves blowing around and dogs acting like dogs. Great atmosphere. The mini games are just right for me. I like it that they are mostly in context with the game, and require a bit of thinking.
One minor problem... the game does not fill the screen unless I change my resolution to 1152x864. No big deal; I have to do this for a few other games (old and new) and I only mention it in case others might have the same problem. This game definitely needs to be enjoyed in full screen.
I have only been playing for about a half hour, but based on what I've seen and the reviews, I don't anticipate changing my rating. The intro screen travelogue was such a delight that I didn't notice right away that there were black bars at the top and bottom of my screen. But this was easily cured... I just unchecked the WIDESCREEN option and everything is perfect.
I guess some (few) reviewers don't want to bother taking time to enjoy the scenery and look for the cute little critters, but I prefer to go slow and appreciate the artwork, animation, sounds and music. The little goblin or whatever he is doesn't much appeal to me but that doesn't detract from the game.
If you need a break from dilapidated houses and creepy, dark stuff, and want to go on an adventure through gorgeous scenes, I think you will enjoy this game.
This one just didn't do much for me. I loved the others. The immersive atmosphere is missing. It was a good game, with good graphics and puzzles that were mostly fun and not too taxing, but not a great game. I wasn't impressed with the bonus content and I did not care for the coins and shopping, which had nothing to do with the game, nor did I like the special powers. Maybe I've just had too much of the magical stuff and glittery objects.
I'm very disappointed. While some of the graphics are nice and colorful, the voices, explosions, dialog boxes and things you have to do are very strange. Nothing seems logical. Just a bunch of disconnected scenes and puzzles. Maybe much younger gamers would enjoy this but it does not appeal to me. Please try before you buy.
I missed it -- bought the Stolen Memories CE yesterday, and then checked out Dollhouse. Just tried the demo first since it is an older game, but holy $#%* what a surprise! How did I miss this one two years ago? The intro was a groaner, but once I got into the game it grabbed me and won't let go. Clever, original mini games that took some thinking to solve. Scary occurrences, creepy doll, creepy music but that all adds to the intensity. I've only played for a couple of hours, and normally do not review a game until I have finished, but am writing this now in hopes that others who missed this game when it first came out will be able to take advantage of the bundle sale and get a super game for $2.99.
There were many things I liked about this game, including the gorgeous objects and decorations, and HO scenes with pretty stuff instead of junk and gore. But I wish I had just bought the SE. The final chapter was an entirely separate story, not an ending to the main game, and it was kind of lame. I don't care anything about screensavers, concept art, music or even the extra minigames, but many SE games seem to lack a satisfying ending, so I buy the CE to get a "complete" game. This game did not need the Bonus Play at all.
What a great game! It had everything I like in a game: realistic graphics (yes, there were some fuzzy areas but even with my poor vision, I could find almost everything without resorting to a hint), good sound effects, loads of places to explore and a map to help with navigation and finding things, FUN puzzles (not too hard) and just the right amount of challenge.
I thank the developers SO much for subtly letting me know that I had missed finding a coin in an area -- loved it that the treasure chest stays open and then closes when all coins have been found. Yes, some were very hard to spot, but knowing that one was there somewhere made it challenging rather than frustrating. The ending was well-planned; too many games just suddenly go POOF - The End. This one did not leave you hanging. I really enjoyed playing this game.
I am astounded at the number of 5 star reviews for this game. I bought the CE and have only played for about a half hour but will probably not play any longer. It's awful! It seems to be very dated, with fuzzy, unrealistic graphics, silly cartoons and avatars, and terrible music. Puzzles are unimaginative. I wondered if I had made a mistake and bought a game that was a few years old. But the reviews are 2013, so I really can't understand why it isn't on a par with current games that have amazing animations and effects and artwork.
I don't recommend this game.

Scrabble
The fantastically fun crossword game is now specially designed for your PC or Mac!
I love Scrabble, but was disappointed with this game for two main reasons: It doesn't allow players to enter their names (don't know why it bothers me so much to be labeled "Player 1" but it does) and the music is awful. Minor complaint is that it lets you get away with submitting bogus words. Should be a penalty like in real Scrabble. A dictionary would be nice. I know it's against the real Scrabble rules, but it's a good educational tool. I might buy someday, but not at full price.
One might wonder why I gave this game 5 stars yet not all "Excellent" ratings. Well, there were shortcomings, but overall the game was so good that it shouldn't be missed.
I did not like the start at all. Those awful puffy, unrealistic avatars really turned me off. And they kept calling me Dylan. If you can't put my chosen name in, then you shouldn't use a name at all. The "retorts" when you try to do something that's not allowed are often misleading (You can't use this item here) -- well, not right now but later you can. Sometimes you have to keep clicking around an area when you know it is the right action. Other times it will tell you to do things you have already done, and sometimes there is no action cursor where an action can be taken, e.g. on the projector. These glitches should have been caught during testing.
There's lots of back and forth, but that's okay with the transport map. The graphics are not always crisp but generally quite lovely. Most of the mini games are simple, yet always fun and often puzzling. The ghosts are well done, thankfully not puffy avatars. The HO scenes are fun but sometimes fuzzy, which is tough on my eyes.
Best thing is that there are LOADS of places to explore! Even when you think you are near to finishing the game, new areas open up. While I can't count this as one of my all-time favorites, it is definitely on the A list.
