Utterly different, challenging, requires some brains but no Ph.D., wordless without amateurish voice-acting (really, how hard is it to hire talent?), clear to understand puzzles. Don't be put off by some "cute" characters, it's rather bittersweet and varied in atmosphere. Great for adults.
This is one of the best examples of their successful formula with (better) voice acting, challenging puzzles, intriguing storyline and atmospheres. (Although SOMEONE at BigFish mistakenly believes they know how to screen-write or direct actors.) I wish this standard had been maintained, but this game is from 2018.

First, the game is nothing new. Plot is a reworking of the standard Phantom/Opera thing supposedly set in Austria instead of Paris. The voices are bizarrely American or in some cases, inexplicably British. WHY doesn't BigFish have experienced stage/film directors cast and oversea these ridiculous choices? Can't you see that your gamers value the experience of the journey as much as the gaming part? It's nothing less than arrogance to think "anyone" can do it. Clearly, it aint workin'!
Step into the shoes of a Private investigator with short-term memory loss and uncover the shocking truth about his involvement with a serial killer called The Executioner.
I rarely review but I enjoyed this a great deal. Especially liked the straightforward storyline with its surprises, and the "dude-appeal." Puzzles were varied and fun, and it didn't feel cliche and "I've played this before" but original and intriguing.
Have played MCF games from the beginning. This has to be one of the worst. I always buy them out of misplaced loyalty, but after playing the demo, I have to end my streak. Not even the level of decent Epix games.
This was overall a very fun game until the last "chunk" or so. The puzzles got extremely challenging, which some may prefer, and the ending, although a surprise, cut off too soon and it was over.
Excellent story, unpredictable, engaging and fun. Setting is a state-of-the-art Art-Deco skyscraper where you navigate from floor to floor saving residents and fighting hallucinations.
I recommend this game!

This is not your typical game and that's what makes it interesting. The graphics are simple and the storytelling retro, but that all cleverly helps create a bizarre atmosphere that is vastly different than 99% of BigFish games. It takes a while to get into it but when you do, the substantial challenges, good voice acting, and intelligent story reward you with a unique experience.
Since there is a similarity to many games, I like an exciting or exotic atmosphere or excellent storyline. One of my favorite cities is NYC and there aint nothin' New York about this game. I don't think any of the developers had ever been there, nor could imagine it in the 40's when the game is set. So it's another same-old convoluted story about saving the world with familiar characters and it's single style of silhouetted hidden object, no variety. Very disappointed.
