Review based on completed game. There's hardly any storyline to speak of. It's an easy game. Some of the puzzles are decent, but most are too easy. There's no excitement in the game..it all just feels like busy work. I wouldn't recommend it. I finished it just to be done with it.
Played the entire game on "Normal" mode. Loved it! I felt like it was more like the olden days of Adventure games when you had plenty to do & not a constant barrage of Hidden Object Scenes. The HOS they had were creative & interactive. There was a storyline that stayed consistent throughout. I marked that aspect as just "okay" cause it was just the average one of "let's banish the bad guy of the land & restore peace among 2 warring factions." There's plenty to do....and a couple of the negative reviews have marked it down for that....there's a puzzle to figure out around nearly every corner. I DO love the interactive maps they are putting into games these days..is there something to do in this or that spot & please beam me directly there. I played over several days and the total game time was a little less than 8 hours....It felt like longer to me. I like a game that takes me awhile-it feels like it was more worth the money. The Hint is very helpful..yes, I don't hesitate to use the hint button..a game is no fun if I'm at a loss as to what to do. The number of times I felt I needed a hint were just perfect to me, not too easy; not too hard.
I recommend this game!

It took me 11.5 hours on Hard mode. There were plenty of challenging puzzles & the HO scenes were pleasant-but there were tons of them & I got a little tired of them after awhile. But, I really go in for the old-school story-rich Adventure type games rather than the HO ridden sorry excuse for what passes as an "Adventure" game these days. Yes, I loved HOGs when I first started playing them but for me, I prefer Adventure over HOGs. I only skipped maybe about 3 puzzles..and that was only after trying to do them. Absolutely wonderful game and I definitely recommend it. Oh and also, there was no scary or gross stuff, considering it's a Vampire story.
Review based on playing the entire game. I was pleasantly surprised that this game was long....I didn't feel like I had wasted my money. There's a map that is very helpful in 2 ways: You can get to where you're going & you can see what area has a task that you can do now. I was enjoying it until, after awhile, it started to feel like busy work instead of puzzles to solve. The connect-the-dots games were dumb....not puzzles at all, just busy work! The graphics were great, the story was average-nothing to write home about. I prefer the old-school true adventure games where the story is the point. But this was enjoyable too. A variety of tasks & something to keep my mind engaged.
Played the whole game on the hardest level. For those who prefer old-school ADVENTURES, this is one of them! No Hidden Object scenes. The puzzles weren't that hard....there were a few where you had to turn all the lights "on" or "off" or where you had to switch all the colors to the opposite side. There was one where you had to get the "car" out of a crowded parking lot sort of puzzle. There were a few times when you had to go around town gathering mulitples of the same object. The storyline was interesting & made sense. I thought the game took me about 5 hours but at the end, it said I took just under 3 hours to finish it....that's too short. I hate it when I just can't get the puzzles AT ALL but these were too easy..I enjoyed the types of puzzles but they made the overall game too easy & quick. The ending "idea" was just fine but, at the same time, it felt too abrupt....you do the last click & it's over.

This was a fantastic game! I love the "old-timey" Point & Click Adventures. This is definitely NOT a HOG..yes there are a few scenes like this but it doesn't have a HOG feel to it at all. Now, while I loved this game & consider it to be more of a Traditional Adventure Game, it wasn't one of the truly great kinds....the BEST kind have more story than puzzles..this had more puzzles than story. So, it's no Myst or Syberia or Beyond Atlantis..but the strong variety of puzzles is excellent. And there was a large variety of scenes..the art was really well done. The music was not annoying at all. The voice acting was fine. All the intricate puzzles-you have the option to skip..there was such a variety that I didn't feel guilty about skipping a few. The Diary helps you keep up with your progress & all the notes you need are in the Diary. The story itself was so-so..choose this game if you like doing puzzles & exploring different beautiful scenes.
There was a maze..you don't just traverse it once, but MANY times! I can tolerate going through a maze once in a game but all throughout the game?? It would have been better that once you made your way to specific spots, you could have just used that maze as a map where you could instantly jump from place to place. I've played several Nancy Drew games..this one was dull compared to the others. And with the maze, it just felt like work. I'm quitting in the middle of the game..and I NEVER quit an Adventure game in the middle.
