This looked good, and I was anticipating a decent game. Why, oh why, are game producers jumping on the "We'll play the game for you; you just stick to the script and click when/where we tell you" bandwagon? I love searching for clues, items and hidden things, but you will get none of that here. Two minutes in I was ready to quit, as I hate being talked to death. I gave it a chance, though, as some games just set the stage at that point, and gameplay ensues thereafter. Nope, by the end of the demo, you've had about 15 minutes of cut-scenes. :( You can do nothing in an area until you've hit ALL the cut-scenes, and there are tedious flashback scenes throughout in the guise of insultingly simple find-the-difference "mini-games". Disappointed, as this story could have been a decent game instead of an orchestrated talk-through.
I don't recommend this game.

Thank you, BFG! I quit this game just long enough to run to the website, snatch it up, and spread the word: this game is outstanding! A beautifullly-rendered world with an interesting and novel storyline, logical progression of play, lots of opportunities to use spells, clever puzzles AND no Helpie Helperton "We'll play the game for you, just click where we tell you" non-sense. Must run now, there are Easter egg surprises in this game waiting to be found. ^_^

This is admittedly a very basic, no-frills game: one level of play, no extras, heavy on the HOS. But, it's a also a solid, intuitive game with no hand-holding, straight-forward progression without a lot of back and forth, and everything works(!), which is a pet peeve of mine when it comes to SE games. Yes, you actually have to look with the eyes of someone trying to make their way through a haunted mansion, click a few non-sparkling items that just seem out of place to find pieces you need, but the game gives you just enough information that you can locate everything you need to progress. There is a journal and a map with objectives and travel option, HOS are list and picture, with an occasional interactive item to be assembled. Scenes have some side arrows that you need to look for and items to be used that aren't indicated by an active cursor, but again, it takes but a moment of logical consideration to figure out. The scenes are rich and detailed, the music appropriate and they've thrown some fun stuff in, too. (I love Hand! ^_^) Very much worth your time to try this one out!
If you LIKE being treated like an idiot/child, this is the game for you...

The visuals are, as always, eye-catching and the music is lovely. I was elated to get back to this game and ready to continue Anna's journey. I loved the original, made my way through the sequel, and had high hopes for this third game. Imagine my disappointment.. Disregard the window that asks "Would you like interactive help?", because the game is set to disregard your answer and drag you kicking and screaming if it has to through the game. Not that there is much in the way of anything to explore on your own; there are only three to four active points in each area, one of which will be yet another HOG. It was almost a relief to get to the HO scenes, though, as it was a respite from being forced to go here, do this, interact with what we tell you to and don't...go...off...script(!)
For me, the point of a casual game is to relax, enjoy the scenery and story, and unwind with a bit of mental exercise and self-challenge. I like clever puzzles and tasks that are not simply a gesture to kill time collecting pieces, or a conduit between cut-scenes. This game is like a slow boat traveling non-stop through a one-way tunnel, with no regard for whether you enjoy the trip or not. I'm getting off here, and thankfully I haven't paid the ferryman yet....
When your daughter, Emily, is taken over by a mysterious force, you must travel to the Nightmare Realm to search for a cure. But nothing could have prepared you for what you find there…

Beautiful, haunting and immersive. A wide range of puzzles, mini-games, HO and interactive scenes. This is not a game to rush through, but to enjoy as it unfolds. I played in hardest mode, but you have all you need to steadily progress. Wonderful game! *Played on Acer AspireOne netbook with no problems!
This game gets a 10+++ for beautiful scene art, graphics and animation. But, a -10 for game play and logical progression.I admit I got hooked into buying this game because it *looked* really good, but it plays like the average European attempt to mimic domestic game producers. The confused story and minimalist player interface doesn't help to direct the player, and wandering around scene to scene, trying to find a way to progress is not my idea of fun. It's a good start, but they have a ways to go.
