Now that I've played both the CE version AND the SE version, I'm afraid I don't like the game any better. But, my perspective of the things I disliked AND liked are a little different. If that makes any sense.
The story opens with an old woman who is standing in your home. Your HOME, without knocking, with a sick cat she is leaving your character (who is a vet). Done. Who is the old woman and what is her place in the story? Already, I think I may have a clue and the game hasn't even started.
The graphics were good - not great. Haven't found a dev yet who can "get" that nightime/dusk without that over-using the magic blue crayon. But I liked the snow and the snow leopards. The voice overs were ok. Not great. The lip syncing at the very beginning when the t.v. report was on was out of "sync" and it made the start of the game very disconcerting and "off".
There are 4 levels of difficulty, including "custom". There are a LOT of changes to your game play you can make in "custom" mode, including opting out of the tutorial and disengaging the skip penalty. One reviewer in the CE said that couldn't be done but, yes, it can. And so can a multitude of other things. There is transportable map, which shows where you are and where tasks need to be completed. It actually shows SEVERAL areas where tasks need to be completed, I like that a lot. I did not see a journal. And, your being a vet, I was surprised that your "vet medicine box" was an Inventory item only used once. Missed a bet there DEVS.
The HOGs were the same old, same old that we are used to seeing and I know there are more innovative ideas out there. Same with the mini games, same old, same old games. Nothing here to make this game more enjoyable.
IMO, albeit the demo being extremely short, the story had no flow or cohesion, just a lot of things going on that were related only by the snow leopards but not a "story". For instance, why does the sheriff only show up once? Why do you have a walkie-talkie at the beginning of the game and it's never used during the demo? Why are you in dangerous scenes with snow leopards but never attacked? Even at the end of the demo when it SEEMS you are attacked, you aren't.
I wanted to love this game as a CE but I didn't. I waited for the SE and hoped to "like" it more, but I really don't. I wanted to give it a stretch of 4 stars, but I can't. IMO, with the holidays coming up and the game choices probably being better, I can't even justify using a coupon for this game. That's really too bad. I own the first in this series, but after that, it went downhill progressively. Again, too bad.
This is a great game for beginners. Experts, I think, will be disappointed in both the story AND the ease of the game play. I do encourage everyone to try the demo for yourself. After all, this is just MY interpretation of the game. I do, however, appreciate everyone who takes the time to read it. Thank you.
Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

A knight (?) stands guard outside the city/town's gates. A noise. "Who goes there?" he says. A tall, dark shadow is seen coming towards him. His eyes...is he tranced? The look on his face .............whoa.
The graphics are amazing. Fires raging, green trees, black ravens/crows, an overturned statue. Every little detail is PERFECT. The music. Probably the BEST "period" music I've EVER heard in a game ... ever. Chanting, hauntingly beautiful, taking you to that nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat place of fear, expectation and excitement without the usual crescendos of ever-increasing volume. The voice-overs (lip syncing AND were amazing. The slightest difference in accents in some of the characters were spot on. The actors who did this did a fantastic job. Bravo! This is a game where you want to spend time just .... paying attention to the amazing details. The DEVS really put a lot of thought and effort into this.
There are 4 difficulty levels (Spark, Flame, Blaze and, woo-hooo ---- "Custom"). There are a lot of PLUS items you will acquire. There is a journal that purports to have "notes", "tasks", "progress" and a "map". Actually, the "notes" are a few sentences about what is happening or has happened, followed by a task/objective list which is checked off as you complete them. The map shows where you are, where objectives are and what areas are completed. The hint button recharges per the difficulty level you've chosen. However, further into the game, it ....... changes. Don't be shocked. But, it WILL "become". - oooooooooooo - lol
There are items that you will ultimately acquire that you will use throughout the game. They will show up next to the hint button. A great icon for each item. One, "Magic Boots" that allow you to become invisible until you are out of immediate danger. Another is a "Fire Medallion". This has several gems embedded into it. Each gem has a certain "property" or magical thing it can do. But be careful to choose the correct gem for what you want it to accomplish. It could be the difference between life and death ... yours. Uh-oh.
HOGs (hidden object games). I came across a variety. In one, a story is being told. That, in itself is very cool - just play the game and see - and during the telling, certain words will be capitalized. Those words are the items you will need to find in the scene. Another was an interactive itemized list. Very interactive. And yet another was more passive. Many great and varied HOGs. LOVE IT!
Mini Games. Varied. New things we haven't seen before. Nothing that was a stretch to do. And, all, if I remember correctly, tied in beautifully to the game.
Your character is "Valera". An evil .............. thing has broken down the door to your home. Your father bravely tried to hold it closed while telling you to "go", "run", "just run". While it's the last thing you want to do, as the door is broken through and you see your father overtaken by a large shadowy form and his eyes ....., you ............. run.
Monsters, called "banshees" are burning down your town. Not just burning it down but destroying it .... thoroughly and unforgivingly. Homes destroyed. Statues crashing to the ground and breaking into pieces. Total and complete annihilation of the only place you've ever known. The place you've called "home" all your life. What do you do? Where do you go? Just as your father bade you .... you run. Only to find ..... they've locked the town's gates ..... with you trapped inside.
How do the gates open now? What is Nathaniel's relationship to Valera, if any? Friend? Why does he keep showing up just one step behind her? Always when it seems help is needed. What is her grandfather trying to tell her? Are there secrets in her past she should know about? Can she perform the deed her grandfather gave her to do? Is she brave enough? Would YOU be? At every turn, banshees are there. At every turn, danger lurks.
Let's not forget the CE Bling: The game really brings it.
In addition to wallpapers and music and Making of (which I love to watch), there is the Bonus Game and Strategy Guide, as well as ....
Collectibles: 57 "flame" icons
Cards: Don't know what this is about as I found none.
Rebuilding the town. Hmmmm.
Flame Hunt - assuming you can go back and find missed flames. And more!
The only words I can use to describe this game are amazing, thrilling, adventurous, poignant, beautiful and, just ...... whoa. I played the beta for this game and a few minor changes were made. Now, I've played the demo and I am definitely purchasing it.
Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Seriously, it's time to put Dana Knightstone out to pasture. Retire her, please.
The opening scene starts out lame enough. Driving through the windy, icy mountainous road, an accident. OH NO! Why is it always an accident? But no! It was an avalanche - and she survived! A ghost dog who can hear a REAL dog whistle (even my LIVE dog can't), can dig through snow, leap tall buildings, grab things from seriously unreachable heights (yet, somehow, Dana can reach to the top of a cathedral to a pipe organ). Is it ..... superdog??? All the while just deliriously happy it's a ghost .... dog. And, to top it all off, a ghost with an anger management issue.
Dana, my dear, after all the snooping around you did in the lobby and looking at pictures, you didn't notice the resemblance between the dead Alexandra and yourself ... until later??? Right. Somebody's detective skills are way off in this novel.
There are 3 difficulty levels (casual, hard and expert). You start off with ghost dog (super dog) and a hint button that recharges very quickly. You ultimately get a map that shows you exactly where your next objective/task is - no hard work there. Do we ever get a journal .... don't think so. But, then, everything about this game is so ridiculously easy it's not really necessary.
The HOGs are varied. In the itemized list one, the typed list was much too small to see for these old eyes and the yellow coloring was disconcerting as well. There were FRAGs (or FROGs if you will), silhouettes that were interactive and others that were not. All very, very easy.
The mini games were insultingly easy. I say "insultingly" for the intelligentsia of the crowd. One or two that I normally would have skipped because of the frustration of never being able to complete that type of mini game, I breezed through in less than a minute.
The story was lame. An angry ghost. From the moment he proposes to the still alive Alexandria, and can't find the ring, he is angry. This is one seriously angry character - alive or dead. No thank you. And he beheads the first person he thinks of, without proof. Even an amateur like me could figure that was a set up. Really? And, skip to the end of the demo, when Dana is locked in a cell by the angry Lucian (once again) and accosted by a headless ghost to which she turns in surprise (GASP). No, she really gasps. Even I knew who it was without the head. How could she not? She watched Lucian behead him!!!!
There is so much wrong with this ridiculous angry ghost, the Alexandria/Dana resemblance she never sees, the super ghost dog who's ridiculously happy all the time and the clueless steward who keeps finding Dana in weird places without so much as batting an eye.
This is a game strictly for beginners ... without a clue. Intermediates and experts will either fall apart laughing or give up in frustration ... and have wasted their hard-earned money. Followers and fans of Dana Knightstone, I fear, will be seriously disappointed in her latest "adventure". I own and have played DK games before, this is not the best work of this dev. Sorry.
Not a purchase, not a recommend. And, if you ask nicely, I'll tell you what I really think. lol
I don't recommend this game.

Norma Shine, an incredible actress ... at the height of her career, starts getting death threats. The Police won't help. She's scared. Very scared. Your character, a P.I., has been hired to protect her, but what a poor job you do. Driving along a road, all Norma can say is that "I feel like something bad is going to happen". And, it does. In spades. A ghost appears in the road!!!! The car runs off the road and there's an accident!! Norma is kidnapped and dragged away before your very eyes!!!! Now, you have to find her.
I felt the graphics were just ok. Too blue - just too much blue coloring. Is it supposed to be dusk or near dawn? Foggy? Creepy? I don't know because NONE of that comes across. What DOES come across? Someone needs to put away the blue crayon. The voice overs were ok. Norma Shine's reaction during the crash seemed so "fake". The music was great. Appropriate for each scene, rising to a nail-biting crescendo when the occasion called for it.
There are 4 levels of difficulty (love the names) - Casual, Semi-Casual, Formal and Black Tie. 4 levels of difficulty and NO "custom". Sorry people. There's the usual journal, inter-active map and a new-fangled device, that constantly needs batteries, that helps you see "things" that you don't normally see. An "eye" indicating you need to investigate that area and what variety of things lie behind that eye! A map is ultimately acquired, which shows where you are and active tasks. PLUS items are in the inventory. (No, the watch isn't broken - the outside piece gets put on last and then click the little button in the center to close it). This was a huge issue when the CE version came out.
The HOGS (hidden object games that I came across were strictly list items with some interaction. Not too difficult at all. I had no problems with any of the mini games either.
Sorry, to those who dislike helpers. There is a little cute doggy named "Elf" who gives us a hand with things we can't reach.
This is a game with a lot of mystery and intrigue. Who has been threatening Norma Shine? And Why? Why are the Police so blase about it and doing nothing? I mean, she's an A-list star! Was that REALLY a ghost in the road? Who was she and what happened to her? Why did she run us off the road? And, even more importantly, who was the figure in black who kidnapped Norma and why? What do they want?
Yeah, I knew this would be an interesting game so I purchased the CE version when it came out. I had to! Did you see THOSE SHOES Norma wore in the opening scene? All green and black and shiny patent leather heels - with rounded toes no less (I HATE pointy-toe shoes) - sigh. Exactly what I would wear. I've GOT to get a pair of those shoes - LOL.
Happy Gaming!

So many questions, and so far, no answers.
The popular, beautiful and talented Star of the Moulin Rouge, Sophie, was murdered. And, by her death, secrets long buried are now exposed. But, what are those secrets? And who can they harm? And how?
I was very impressed with this game. The graphics were amazing, the music beautiful and the voice overs perfect with lip syncing (thank you DEVS).
There are 4 difficulty modes (casual, challenging, expert and, yes, CUSTOM). Be sure to check each item in the "Custom" setting as there may be items you want to "uncheck". Objectives pop up in a box telling you what your next objective is and when an objective has been achieved. There is an Achievements (25) button near your Inventory. It seems that's the new "thing" - to put Achievements where you can go view them when you choose. Plus items will be in your inventory a LOT.
The optional "tutorial" was annoying to me. Usually, after reading whatever instruction it gives you, you can click the "x" button or anywhere outside the instructions and it will go away. Not so here. Until you perform THAT instruction, it will stay like an annoying little flying insect around your head (maybe not the best analogy. I wanted to use KUDZO but I wasn't sure if everyone would know what that is - lol).
Eventually, you will find a "journal". However, when you hover your mouse over it, it's titled an "Evidence Board". Blooper? Upon opening it, you will see pictures of interested parties of the case. Click on the picture and see a dossier of that person. As you play the game, an Exclamation Point (!) will appear on it, Open it. Another (!) will appear on 1 or more of the pictures. Click on the picture and move the arrows on the right side up or down to see what new "evidence" has been found. There is also an "Objectives" and "Task" tab at the top.
Also eventually, you will receive a map. There are "Task" and "Objectives" tabs at the top. Task and Objectives are indicated on the map using very tiny icons. Truthfully, so small I almost missed them completely. However, if you follow the game, you'll know where you need to go. You will also receive, during the game, location cards to give the driver of your carriage. There is no legend for "this is where you need to be", etc.
The HOGs (hidden object games were vary interactive and there are a variety of ways to play. In the list items type, there is an alternative match 3 game you can play. Very easy. And, sometimes there are mini games IN the HOGs. Way cool!
As for the mini games. I found there were more available than HOGs. At least in the demo. Fun, some new things we've not seen before. Some require patience (a virtue) and perseverance. I believe I skipped one to get back to the game play but WHEN I own the game I will figure THAT one out - guar-an-teed!
Your character is Madam Roche and you have been hired by the renowned and talented artist, Lautrec, to find out the truth behind Sophie's murder.
CE Bling: NOW I'm impressed - lol.
Besides the usual fare of wallpapers, music, etc. we have:
Achievements - 25 - viewable whenever you choose.
BONUS HOP (in addition to the replayable HOPs)
Souvenir Room
Collectibles (I did not find ONE collectible during the demo, but that doesn't mean anything as I was REALLY into the game). Sorry.
Codex - love it! There are 8 pages available and it gives great info.
Making Of: LOVE LOVE LOVE this. You HAVE to watch it.
Who murdered Sophie and why? Why don't the Police believe it was murder? There was poison near the body and on one of the roses at the crime scene. What does this signify? Why is Lautrec so interested in Sophie's death? Yes, they were close friends but his interest is ...... almost ..... obsessive? And what happened to the close friendship between Sophie and Odette? Does Odette believe the Janitor murdered Sophie? Who is behind the mask character always showing up - everywhere you go? Man or female? Friend or foe? So many, many questions and more questions and suspects come up during the game. But, WHAT really happened? All will be answered when you play this amazing adventure and mystery game. Enjoy!
I thoroughly enjoyed this newest installment of the Danse Macabre series. IMO it's the best one yet. Mystery, adventure, a history of the time period and the people involved. So much to offer. I couldn't get enough and was devastated when it was over. So, it's a DEFINITE purchase for me. Not only the game intrigued me but the CE offers were enough to convince me to get the CE version - I think. I'm terribly wishy-washy! Sorry. LOL.
I believe this game would be great for beginners to experts, depending on the difficulty level you choose. I always play "casual" in the demo offerings so I can get a better idea of what the game has to offer those who choose that setting. I do hope this encourages you to try the demo. Come, join me in finding out the mystery behind the death of Sophie.
Happy Gaming!
I recommend this game!

There was absolute nothing about this game that grabbed me.
I did not understand the title: 3 Dream Resort. What "Resort" was it referring to, much less what "Dream Resort:?
The game was based on the game of bowling. You played 10 "frames"/games, trying to get your best score for each "frame"hand.
All you do is match cards - 5 and a 5, 4 and a 4, etc. There are gold cards that if matched get you money money/points, which you can spend at the shop for various bonuses.
The music wasn't even "resort" relaxing music. I'm not sure what kind of music it was supposed to be.
There was no story (if there would have been it would have bumped up the game tremendously), no bonus levels, mini games or anything else to break up the monotony of playing endless rounds of the same game of solitaire.
What I LIKED:
The demo finally ended.
Obviously, not a purchase for me, nor will I recommend as there are much better solitaire games on the BFG site.
I don't recommend this game.

Hmmmm. I really don't know how to go about this review. I'll just start typing and see where it goes.
The storyline. Something we've definitely seen before. Train running away with a loved one on board. This time, it's your character's children. While visiting a train exhibit in 1996, you somehow lost track of your children while on the "key" exhibit. Suddenly, you spot them with a man in a mask? No. More like a helmet of some kind. The train starts to leave the exhibit/station and, screaming, you manage to JUST jump aboard the back car. The door is locked, of course, and your adventure begins.
The graphics are pretty good. The voice overs were great. I love any game that has lip syncing. The music was highly annoying. Didn't seem appropriate at all and I turned it down or tuned it out - whatever - it worked.
Your apparent goal is to meet creepy passengers who are ghosts and, you guessed it, figure out what happened to them. Then, again apparently, they will help you find your children. Deja Vu.
There are 3 modes of difficulty. Shields in bronze, silver and gold. You immediately have a journal/diary to keep notes in - not very useful, and a "jump map" map that shows where you are and where something needs to be done. During the game, you acquire investigative equipment and a magnifying glass that takes you to an evidence board.
The HOGS, while extremely interactive, posed no challenge whatsoever. Neither did the mini games. I never used the "hint" button once during the entire demo.
This game seems to have a lot going on. Help the ghosts by conducting investigations in every station you stop. The first being Paris. Then, you have the investigative tools more suited to a P.I. or police officer. An evidence board, again, more suited to a P.I. or the police. It just seems you're jumping everywhere at once, not really accomplishing anything and nothing really flows well. It just didn't "grab" me the way I thought it would initially.
And the bloopers! Doesn't anyone check these games before they're marketed? A shovel next to a inventory item. But, when you need the shovel it's in a different place entirely, even though you KNEW you needed a shovel when you picked up the initial item - but you couldn't pick it up. The elevator that takes you immediately to the floor (and door) you need to access without pressing any buttons. Hanging off the OUTSIDE of the train, with a hammer in your hand to break a window, frightened out of your wits but, by God, you manage to hold on - sorry, I would have totally lost my grip and fallen to my death. And those are just the most glaring ones.
This game just has too many issues and not enough "umph" for me. It's definitely not a buy. But, I do encourage everyone, especially beginners (the tutorial NEVER stops) to try the demo for yourselves. Experts? Not sure this game would be for you. IMO, there are much better mysteries and adventures involving trains on the BFG site.
I recommend this game!

This game is played the same as other "riddlers" or "mosaics" or what-have-yous.
The story line was confusing. I don't think you can actually "get" it unless you played the previous game, which I did not. The previous game, while not given a run-down in the opening scene or anywhere else, was constantly referred to. Perhaps, it would have behooved the DEVS to give an update at the beginning of the game to bring us all up to speed.
The graphics were fine. I mean, seriously, they're blocks or a dot to represent a destroyed/empty block. I disliked that the "used" blocks looked like legos. Very disconcerting. The music did not mesh with the environment at all. It was supposed to be an Egyptian tale. Instead, the music was more rock and roll.
The gist of the game play is this: You have a grid of blocks (say 5 x 5) and along the top, bottom and left side there are numbers. These numbers tell you which blocks are "real" and which blocks are to be "broken". For instance, in a 5x5 grid of blank blocks, say you have the numbers 2 (space) 2 to the left of one of the rows. That means, you have 2 occupied spaces, 1 destroyed space followed by another 2 occupied spaces, comprising the total of the 5 spaces.
There are 2 modes of difficulty - casual and hard. I played on casual so I could get the feel of the game. The first few levels are a very well-made tutorial that does a good job of explaining how to play the game. You get 4 hints per level. Left-click your mouse to "occupy" a block, right-click your mouse to use the "hammer" and "destroy" a block. Each completed level will "make up" a picture of some sort. Each level gets progressively harder. Blocks are multi-colored in placement depending on the picture being created. Because that's what the game is all about, creating pictures.
Scattered among these "riddlers" are HOGs (hidden object games) whichI found to be ridiculously easy. The mini games, as well, were very easy. There is also a "hint" button in the HOGs and a "skip" button in the mini games. I didn't use either.
While I really liked the fact that there were a smattering of HOGs and mini games to break up the monotony of the riddler levels, I was truly bored with the actual game. I have found, and own several, better and more exciting "riddler/mosaic games from the BFG site. For these reasons, this game will not be a purchase for me.
However, if you are new to this genre of game play, or want to play a relaxing, non-stressful game of riddlers, I encourage everyone from beginners to experts to try the demo.
Happy Gaming!
I recommend this game!

Well, poor Scarlett is an accomplished writer with a touch of .... sigh ...... all writer's are said to get this very curable "disease" .... poor Scarlett ....... she - has - writer's - block!!!!!! So, she decides to buy a manor, sight unseen (o---kay, wish I had the money to do that) in the country no less (trust me, the country is NO place for a city girl) thinking she will be inspired to write. But, will she? Will Scarlett break through the writer's block or succumb to the madness involved in restoring the manor she bought? Which path will her life take now? Find out the answers to these questions and more by playing the game.
If you've played Gardenscapes or Mansion Makeover, you will be familiar with this game. To earn money to remodel the mansion, Scarlett has enlisted you to help her have yard sales. Start in one room, find the items your customers are seeking and get paid, paid, paid! When you've earned enough, you will get a choice of 3 (generally) like items to add to the mansion. For instance, we'll start with a sofa - cheap, white or elegant? Which do you prefer? Which is more comfortable? Which is more bang for your buck? And, so it will continue throughout the game.
But, there's more (there's always more). You will also have to help the neighbors, community, general early morning swap meet people, find items in your yard by solving riddles and leading them (quite literally) to their item. Please don't run out of time!
There was a CE version of this game that I played as well. But, I was on the fence whether to get the CE or the SE because I just wasn't too turned on by the "CE Bling". Well, that decision left my hands. Although I love this genre of game and loved this game, it is, unfortunately for me, not a purchase. Again, unfortunately, I had the misfortune to find out the ending to Scarlett's story.
All I can say is this: Try the demo. If you enjoy the game half as much as I did, YOU may want to help Scarlett with her Manor Memoirs and makeover!
Happy Gaming!
I recommend this game!

The "CE Bling" (which everyone is surprised this is even a CE) consists of wallpapers, concept art, music and more. The end of Scarlett's problem - what happens? More levels to play and more choices of items to purchase. But, does all this make it CE worthy? Oh, there's also a Strategy Guide. Well, you decide.
