I am in the middle of playing this game again. I played it when it first came out in May 2011 and enjoyed it then, but never wrote a review. I am enjoying playing it again. The graphics are beautiful. The story is superb. It isn't as challenging as some games I have played, but it is challenging. At times I was downright frustrated because I knew what I needed to find but couldn't figure out how to get what I needed. Had to use the hint button in these instances. The hint button does not take forever to recharge. Overall, I am really enjoying this game the second time as much as the first time. I think you will too.
I recommend this game!

I bought this game as part of the bundle with another Christmas game. I have to say that the music is outstanding and includes music from The Nutcracker. The graphics were lovely. Nonetheless, at times, it was difficult to find some of the HOs because the scenes were dark. It is very short. I finished it in 3 hours and that is with several breaks! In addition, some of the English needed to be improved. I think it is a great game for older elementary school kids, but not very challenging for adults. Still, I did enjoy playing it. It was worth the $2.99, but I wouldn't pay more for it.
I love HOGs and have really been enjoying this one. The graphics are very good. I like the fact that there is a picture of what you must find instead of words. In some instances, you must check out another scene before you can finish a previous one. Not everything is easy to find, so you have to do a bit of thinking outside the box to find things. The mini-games aren't difficult, and I appreciate that. I am getting tired of mini-games that are more challenging than the game themselves. You can earn extra points by shooting outlaws and finding sheriff badges. The sheriff badges also unlock a secret mission. This is not a dark and spooky game as so many are. It is bright and cheerful, if investigating a bank robbery is cheerful. I can't say there is anything I really disliked about the game. To be honest, I was smiling throughout the entire game play, something I haven't done since playing Gardenscapes. If you really like HOGs, then this is the game for you.
What can I say!! This has to be the best HOG that Big Fish has ever offered. The graphics were just beautiful. The cut scenes were incredible. The characters were perfectly drawn. They seemed so real. (If one could have a crush on a anime character, it would be Ethan.) The music was inspiring. The games were not too difficult. Although I figured out the ending long before the game finished, there is a plot twist in the end. I wish the map was interactive, but actually it was not necessary. You had to go back and forth but you never had to go more than two or three scenes and they were all related. Some of the hidden objects were hard to find. They were either very small or hidden in a very dark area. But overall, I loved the game and plan on playing it again. I have the CE. The strategy guide remains where you leave off, a nice touch. Just started to play the bonus game and it plays like the main game. It gives you insight into the past, which is nice. Overall, I am very glad that I have the game. I think you will be too.
Love this game! Just finished the demo. So different than most of HOG. I found this game such a refreshing change of pace. Not much in the way of a story but that was OK. You basically restore an estate and garden that you inherited from your grandfather. The graphics were very good. I even enjoyed the music, which is something I usually turn off. But my favorite thing had to be the butler, Austin. You could interact with him. And he would respond back. He even asked me if I always play games at night! There are two modes, relaxed and timed. I am playing the relaxed one just to get a feel, but I have every intention of playing the timed mode later. I really believe one will not be disappointed playing this game. It really is worth the money!
I really do like this game. I have to agree that character graphics could be better, but that doesn't really bother me. The storyline is fun. The level of play is quite challenging. The HO scenes are my biggest complaint. The visual quality behind these scenes leaves a lot to be desired. It is hard to enjoy a game when you can't find what you need. Many of the scenes are so dark that it is nearly impossible to find things. Try finding a black fly against a very dark background - IMPOSSIBLE!!!. And when you need to find coins or scraps of paper, forget it. They are so small I found it hard to believe that what I clicked on was what I was looking for. You have to use hints or you will never finish a level. And the clicks must be so very precise. I had to stop after about 1/2 hour of play because I started to develop an awful migraine due to eye strain (no lie). This is the first time I have felt that a game from BF is not worth the money. I really believe the developers should do some revision and lighten up some scenes and make some objects bigger. If this happens, then I will be more than happy to revise my review. But for now, I my disappointment stands.
I was looking for a game as good as Dark Parables. This is not quite as good but a close second. The story line is good. The graphics excellent. I gave visual/sound quality only 4 stars because I always turn down the sound, so I cannot really comment on sound quality. The HOGs are quite challenging. Some of the things are so small that you really have to hunt. But that is the whole point of HOGs. The puzzles are very different than anything I have played so far. They can be difficult, so I am glad that there is a walk through available. I had to utilize it a few times to finish a puzzle, But that did not take away from my enjoyment of this game. I am so looking forward to playing the two sequels. This is worth the price of the SE.
I cannot believe that such a game exists!! I have only started playing it and I cannot stop!! This has to be one of the best games Big Fish has offered in a while. The graphics are magnificent, the ambient sounds and the voice acting superb. I cannot comment on the music because I always turn it off on games (I find the music in any game annoying). I love the fact this story begins where the original one left off. It has 3 levels to choose from. When playing a new game, I always choose the easiest, if available. Believe me, even the easy level is a challenge. I will be sure to play the other levels for an even more challenging experience. I just can't say enough good things about this game. You have to play this to experience the magic. This game is worth every penny the price of the collectors edition.
Thought this would be fun to play. Boy, was I wrong! The graphics are not very good. Items are small and difficult to find. Because of this, it was not much fun for me. In addition, the English translation left a lot to be desired. There were some words that I didn't even know what the game was talking about. Had to use the blog walk-through just to understand. All in all, not a very good way to spend you hard earned dollars. Wish I hadn't.
This has got to be one of the best HOGs that I have played in a long time. The hidden objects puzzles were few and far between, yet, there were many different kinds of puzzles to play. As a whole, all the puzzles were challenging. The story was a riveting and sad love story. The illustrations were beautiful. The blog walk-through was helpful although I noticed a couple of small errors. These did not have a major impact on the helpfulness of the walk-through. I will play this again and again. It was worth every penny paid.
