Im so torn on this game! I played the entire thing and while I liked it as I love TM games, Im also disappointed with it hence the 3 star rating. The storyline and the creating your own wedding room were very nice and I really enjoyed making my wedding room beautiful. It was quite fun throughout most of the levels and there are a lot of different locations to conquer. All the levels except the last one were very doable to get expert but some obviously took more than one try to do it sufficiently.
Then we come to my dislikes or rather my disappointments. The level of challenge in all the levels except the last one were great. However in the last one, no matter how fast I was or how many people I helped, I could never get an expert score. Even if I helped all the people and had nobody leave the store on me and even if all the people leaving had 5 hearts, I could not get the expert score. I am pretty fast and was able to obtain expert on all the other levels so I feel like this is some kind of glitch or bad decision making. I feel like if you get all the people in the store without anyone walking out and you get all of them out with 5 hearts then you should get the highest score but that was not the case.
My other huge letdown were the salon upgrades. In most TM games, you have a lot of things to upgrade and people to help you as time goes on. This game gives you people that will help you for a price and you can update all the fixtures but you can't add anymore chairs in the front so you can have more customers or upgrade the chairs that are already there for patience so they are always all grumpy by the time they sit down. The upgrades that would have helped me save time were only available for the stations I already had the workers at. I really could have used better, faster upgrades for the rest of my stations. Every time you beat a location, you get to level up Holly either adding speed, hearts or customers giving you higher tip. Even when I had all of these at the end of the game, the last location was completely undoable. Usually it bothers me to not finish a TM game without getting all the experts but with this game Id be sitting here for a year trying to be fast enough to do it.
Therefore even though I liked the game concept and my "wedding room", this game would have been so much better with more updates that help progress the game, more helpers and more chairs to add like other games. OH and good luck when your helpers go on vacation and you only have 1 chair because the rest broke. Yes its a game and there are obstacles but this one makes them almost impossible.
I do recommend this game but I also don't. Its really up to how much you like TM games and what you will settle for when playing them.

I found this game to be very enjoyable. It had nice graphics plus voiceovers. It had lots of hidden object scenes which were interactive but not so many that it put me off. The puzzles were very easy though hence rating the level of challenge at 3 stars. I was able to do all of them without putting much thought into it and I prefer thinking games. The visual/sound quality was great. Items were beautifully done. Not up to par with some other developers but still good.
The storyline made sense and was based on the book by H.P Lovecraft -The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. You have to save the souls, not a new concept but this one was well done. It was A LOT longer and had A LOT more locations than I thought it would. It took me about 4 hours give or take. There was an actual ending in the standard edition which I greatly appreciate from developers.
The only thing I'll say negativity about this game was the choices of difficulty and the fact there was no way to lock the inventory up but the latter is just a personal preference so I don't have to constantly bob it up and down looking for items. The levels of difficulty bothered me. The Casual is sparkles, hints, skips all of the above. Advanced was hints, skips but had sparkles on the hidden object scenes but also the main game. Expert had no skips, no hints, no sparkles on hidden object scenes or the main game. I would have liked Advanced to come without sparkles but still a skip and a hint. Maybe a customized approach would be nice for the next game. HOWEVER, the difficulty can be changed in the options menu so if you start on expert and need a hint, it can be changed. Just kind of a pain to go back and forth. Also, there is no map and since you backtrack which is why I needed hints to remember where to go, a jumpable map would have been awesome.
All in all, I really enjoyed this game. It had the dark theme without being too dark and it had lots of locations to explore.
I recommend this game!

I usually like VAST games but this one fell short for me. The storyline is kind of boring and the game is quite short. The puzzles were too easy but the hidden object scenes had some really small blended in items that made me have to squint. I liked the locations and the fact there isn't much backtracking. Once you are done with a location, thats that which is nice but the hidden object scenes were nothing special. Interactive but not all that fun. The bad guy magician is not scary and his voice is nasal like and just doesn't look like someone who would be a threat. It would have been nice to know HOW he was making things disappear but you stop it of course and then it just ends.
There are far better games out there. Unless you are using a pcc on this or its a dd, I probably wouldn't bother. It does have an ending that makes sense but overall it just kind of bored me.
I don't recommend this game.

Overall, I really enjoyed this game in terms of gameplay, puzzles, hidden object scenes. Where this game fell flat was in the visual/sound aspect and the ending.
This game feels a bit outdated since it has no voiceovers but the visual aspect is good. Had it had voiceovers, I really believe this would have been a 5 star game. The hidden object scenes are interactive and done well. Each scene is repeated twice but you are looking for different items. The mini games were unique but I was able to solve all of them.
The storyline was good BUT there is a huge issue with the ending. There is a cliffhanger and from what I read there isn't an ending in the Collector's Edition either so its really no loss to get the Standard in this case. You do get some satisfaction bringing down the ice queen but little can be said about what happens to your partner. I am not sure what to make of it myself AND you end the game with an unusable item which makes me wonder what its even there for.
Overall though, I enjoyed this game. It took me over 3 hours. I did not skip any puzzles and I felt that the hint and skip buttons filled just fine on advanced mode. The difficulty is changeable in the options menu, which was a good thing because a hint every now and then in the main game was needed. I liked the tasks I was doing and the snow element was perfectly fitting for this game. There were way more locations than I anticipated and made for a really great game. Kudos! I definitely recommend!
I recommend this game!

This game consists of 100 syndromes and 301 boards to play. It took me a very, very, very long time to finish it. It is a good game for new players to match 3 games or people who are very experienced. Most of the time I could beat the levels with the help of the powerups which are really good and even better as you progress. There were only a few levels I had to play again. Every time Mel has a new syndrome, you get to scan his body and different ailments will come up. These are the boards you get to play match 3 on. Once you cure a syndrome completely, the picture of sick mel, starts to look somewhat less gimpy.
The goal of this game is to cure mel by doing what I said above. There are bugs to squish, gunk to squash, a salesman to visit. The sound affects are squishy, the power ups are helpful. This game is worth the price. It can be replayed for more best scores.
What kept me from giving this game 5 stars was the repetitiveness. Although it is fun to cure mel, he has sooooo many ailments that the boards begin to bore after a couple which is why it took me so long to play this game. There are only so many times you can squish bugs and match tiles. It would have been nice if there was more to the boards like fire or ice or chains like in other games. The bugs each have different "personalities" so that was something unique. For example, some squeeze together and won't let items drop unless you find a third bug and it will go away, some are very easy to pop and make loud noises, some you have to link together that look like starfish (those take forever to pop).
In the end I cured Mel and he is well and off on his way. I can see a sequel to this game as Mel seems very accident prone. What I enjoyed most were the names of the syndromes and ailments. A lot of creativity went into this game. And its well worth the money just kind of repetitive and extremely longgggg.
I recommend this game!

Its from Anuman Interactive. Im assuming they are a branch of the developers HdO because it has the exact game features which is sad considering this developer has pure Large File Adventure games out. There is a star in every hidden object scene that gives you another hint. You start with 7. I have no idea what happens when you run out, didn't play that far. There are no voiceovers but a lot of dialogue.
Its about doomsday december 21, 2012 and since that date has passed, this makes me feel like this game is very outdated. Its graphics and gameplay sure are. You are going to Mexico to see your dad and supposedly vacation but really you are on an archaeological dig and your dad is nowhere to be found, as always.
This game is purely, find hidden objects and some puzzles although I didn't get that far. The hidden objects scroll on the bottom. There are cursor changes but they don't make sense especially when you need to use tools. Once you play, you'll understand. A hand will come up that you click with your regular mouse cursor. Just outdated from what I've seen Anuman Interactive do. The objects are tedious to see, very small and like I said a star can be found to give an extra hint but overall this game is just a dud.
I do not recommend this game unless you want something old fashioned, hard on the eyes, boring and a plot line that is played out. However, the visual quality is not the worst I have seen. Actually I did a puzzle, it had to do with eliminating cities in Mexico to find where your dad is...didn't even make sense. I just clicked around til I heard chimes.
So basically...DONT BOTHER
I don't recommend this game.

Let me say, I love detective shows and games. I love a good plot line and I don't mind a lot of dialogue and that is a MUST for anyone that is going to like this game. This game plays more of a novel than a game. Its like a novel with interactive bits. I am happy I bought the standard edition and not the collectors as it has an ACTUAL ending and even gives it a bit of a twist.
Even though the dialogue was ok at first, near the end it did wear me out a bit listening to it because there was a lot more near the end. It tells a great tale though of broken hearts, how far you go for the one you love and how evil is sometimes right next to us even in people we trust.
The gameplay has 3 modes. I chose the hardest mode which has no hints or sparkles BUT you can skip the puzzles. I did not find that having no hint was a problem either in the main game or the hidden object scenes. The main game is set into segments and once that scene is done, there is no reason to go back. Playing on the hardest level gives you skips in the puzzles and I only felt a couple were hard to get. All the others were doable and unique. I never got a pipe puzzle, thank god. There is no map in the hardest level but there is in the other levels. I personally like wandering around in detective games so I found this was not a problem for me.
The first in this series was way better, in fact I own the CE but this one is still great in its own way and I found the voiceovers really made this game because without such good ones or any in general, this game would have been quite lacking but with them, its the best part. Kudos to good voice acting. The accents even appeared realistic too.
I recommend this game!

If this was the standard edition, I would have given it 5 stars. It has a complete and satisfactory ending and the game itself is quite good along with the story. However, as a CE, this game doesn't have all the frills and collectibles and extras that other games do hence the 4 stars.
I would have liked a bit harder of a challenge both in the game itself and the puzzles BUT the story line makes this game one of the best I've played all year.
This is an UNIQUE, BASED ON TRUE EVENTS game. Its not your run of the mill vampire story. No love angle, just facts. And its done extremely well. I loved playing it. Usually I play in 1 hour increments but once I started this game, literally I couldn't stop. It took 5 hours give or take. The bonus chapter is put in the future. Its about one of the men on your first trek having nightmares about unfinished business so he goes there to check it out. YOU get to CHOOSE the ending. I did like that angle.
The voiceovers are very well done. There is no live acting BUT Id take GREAT voices over terrible live acting any day. Also, the music score was great, never got overly annoying and made the game sort of spooky.
Some games are so unique and great, they don't need all the collectibles, achievements etc to be extraordinary. This game is wonderful and I wish more developers would think outside the box like this and make engaging games that aren't just the same old story. Also, there are interviews about the folklore and truth in Vampirism according to locals and people who study it. It was very interesting and a great addition to the Collector's Edition.
I have never heard of this developer before but I can only hope they come out with more of their original well done games in the future. Kudos to a new and unique story line! Not the same cliche vampire things we usually see. KUDOS!
Oh & you only play each hidden object scene once which is great because you don't get sick of the scenery AND it doesn't make you go back and forth just to make it longer!
I recommend this game!

This review is based on the whole game as I just finished it. I am being very generous giving this game a 4 star review. I think it deserves more of a 3.5 but I rounded up. However, due to the fact this game is so easy even my dog could play it, its almost insulting how easy the puzzles are, I would probably rate it in my own terms about a 2.5 BUT it was FUN to play so thats why I gave it such a high review. Not to mention, The storyline really had me wondering what happened the entire game so kudos to that, however once you figure out what happens, what a let down!!!
There is an ending in the standard edition, a first for ERS games and although it does end satisfactorily, I would have liked it to end with the video because it would have made more sense. The clown character was interesting but if I had an accident where my face was burnt, i don't know that Id be dressing up like a clown everyday just to hide it so some things were a little far fetched.
However, I am giving high stars for CREATIVITY and ORIGINALITY because ERS usually seems to lack this in their games. Also, this is a pure Adventure game so more stars for that! It was sooo nice not to run into sooo many hidden object scenes like in other games. However, since I was playing on the hardest mode, the puzzles could have been harder. Im a puzzle person BUT these puzzles are so easy that anyone could do them. I think my 85 year old grandma who doesn't know how to use the computer could do them. Im not trying to be mean but adventure games are supposed to be somewhat challenging however the puzzles in this game were sad. It was the most disappointing part because there were so many!! This game could have been hours longer had it had some kind of flexibility. Im good with a varying difficulties but this was like move one and done.
However, despite the easy puzzles, I really enjoyed this game. I can't tell you the last time I played an ERS game and thought it had a satisfactory ending in a standard edition. Not to mention this wasn't a sequel that already had 9 in front of it. I like the originality ERS! More of these please! with harder puzzles because Im willing to bet, your customers that are buying your adventure only games are looking for more of a challenge than your customers buying the hidden object scene games. Kudos to a fresh, new idea. 4 stars for that.
I recommend this game!

I honestly never knew this was on BFG as I got it on my iphone as a special last year but its a game I really enjoy. On the iphone is very challenging but its touch screen so its easy to get the ingredients. I do believe on a computer it would amount to a lot of clicking. The main difference between this one and burger shop for example is that the sandwich ingredients have to be in order. Also, each person always order 3 sandwiches so when its a long list of ingredients, it gets kind of tedious to stack all the items fast enough to get to the next level. On the phone its a little easier to do because you are touching it, all close in personal but its still challenging and there are times I cannot keep up.
This game is very doable though and it does get progressively harder as time goes on. Seeing the game on the computer makes the graphics way better as on the phone, I had no idea what some of the items were but now I know from looking at better visuals. This game is a lot of fun on the phone and I bet even more challenging on the computer. I do recommend it!
I recommend this game!
