My whole world brightened up when I saw a Spellarium game being offered. It and the couple of others that are of the same ilk are the cream of the crop when it comes to games being offered on Big Fish. The most fun is having a game that makes you think about how you do things - in what order - and also finding the new things the developer has introduced. There is always a great mix of the familiar and the new. It just does not get any better than this!!!

A game with strictly HO scenes interspersed with puzzles sounded fabulous to me so I downloaded the game for the demo. But, even though I could hear the first bit of dialogue, the screen was totally black. Couldn't get past it so I had to uninstall it. I was really looking forward to trying it. Bummer. I'm giving it two stars because the bit of dialogue I heard was sharp and good. Can't rate anything else since I couldn't play the game. Guess I'll go back to the new Northern Tales 6 game that I'm currently playing. I may not be happy with the game mode situation with it, but at least I can play it.

I went ahead and bought the CE version since I, like many others, so seldom find really good quality games these past few years. I'm happy with it except for one thing. I wanted to change the game mode after playing level 10. When I did change it, I had to start all over at level 1. Not good! I wasn't going to regress 10 levels to change the mode even though I would have been much happier playing in a different mode. No offense to Pennmom, but I don't miss looking for those little rainbows. I just didn't like having to run my cursor over every single centimeter of the screen to find them. Granted, the hidden objects are much easier to find now, but I get less exasperated this way. I try to find at least 2 of the 3 objects before I click to begin the level and the timer kicks in. I do agree with her on having dialogue pop up during the level. Not good when playing a timed game. It breaks a person's concentration when you're focused on beating the timer so you can advance to the next level.

The game itself is fun and I would purchase it, but there is really something wrong after you finish each level. At level completion, the screen went black and I could see two fireworks going off and a tiny gold star in the middle of the screen. It stayed that way FOREVER. Since we only have an hour for the demo, I had to close the window by right clicking on the game icon in the taskbar and then reopen the game in Game Manager to play the next level. I didn't buy the game and thought I'd wait to see if anybody else was having the same issue. Behindthetimes seems to be having the same problem. If the game gets fixed, I'd purchase it since the game is okay while you are playing the level. But now that I've played through the demo, how will I know if the game is ever fixed since I can't demo it again?????

Let me begin by saying that I fully endorse Pennmom's evaluation of this game. When I first began to play it I thought "Mmm, this looks familiar, but kinda different" and in some ways of lesser quality. Then it becomes clearer that it's a knockoff of a couple of other game series that have been quite successful (and that I have purchased). The only reason I purchased this game was because of the holiday weekend BOGO sale. I did enjoy the game and am ready to begin the bonus level locations of which there are 8. There's no way this game is worth the CE price compared to the games it is trying to copy. This one is much easier than those "originals" by other developers so it plays much more quickly by comparison.

This M3 is okay. I enjoyed the demo enough to buy it, but am still a bit on the fence about hitting the "buy" button due to the lack of a windowed mode.
I liked the graphics and I always like a game that allows me to "build" something. The powerups were also good. But, not having a windowed mode is a big stickler for me. So, I guess I'm kind of here to support tjm1938 so the developers will know that more than one person wants a windowed mode option.

Like a few others here, I paid the CE price, but the CE levels will not open to play. Wasted my money apparently which makes me more than a little bit irritated. I tried going to the Forums section to see if I could find any suggestions, but when I click on it the Walkthroughs open instead of the Forums. I remember back when this site worked pretty well; but since all the changes were made a few weeks ago many features don't work so great any longer. It's disappointing and oh so frustrating. I hope the purchasing process is straightened out before too much longer.
I would also put a "yes" vote in on the idea of having a magnifier with this game which has been suggested by a few other reviewers. I enjoyed the game - or at least the levels that I could play; but this one was really challenging. Finding some items was very difficult.
I recommend the game, but don't be shocked if the CE levels don't open for you. They are the only reason I spent the extra money and it got me nothing.

To be totally honest, I have nothing to add to the terrific, detailed reviews that have already been posted; but I want to give this another 5 rating so Big Fish will have more evidence of how much many of us appreciate this caliber of a game. The Cursed House games (and others that are similar) score a 5++ for me. Like many others, I think the new daily games of late have been a big disappointment in game play and variety (what variety?), so seeing a new Cursed House is fantastic. There is always some of the familiar, but also new things to conquer. This developer knows the formula for success, for sure. I am usually up when the new game of the day is unveiled. When I saw this one, I was euphoric and bought it pretty quickly. For newcomers, the Cursed House games are unique and you have to think a bit outside of the box, but the Help Guide is very good. I have 10 out of the 11 Cursed House games and they are all superb. I will be happy to see CH 12 sometime in the future.
If you know Mia Faircroft, you know these folks, too. Just some random thoughts - 1) Yes, many of the objects are very difficult to find. As a matter of fact, without the magnifier this game would not be worth the effort. 2) My eyes can barely handle the strain of playing for very long due to the difficulty of finding such small objects that are only partially visible and sometimes hidden in the dark. This is a game I can only play for short periods of time before I have to exit and play something else that is a lot more eye-friendly. 3) Lots of dialogue (just like the Faircroft games), but mercifully there is an option to skip it for the gamers who don't want to slog through it. 4) Varied puzzles and most of them are fun and enjoyable. 5) The fun facts you find with the "?" are fun and interesting. 6) This game is worth it to me since there is a good sale right now. Would probably not pay full price for it though. 7) It's a huge plus that the magnifier stays with you until you release it with a right click since it's needed to find objects in every HO scene (IMHO). I see the star ratings for this game are all over the place. That makes it difficult to gauge what the game is like; but it's a good idea to try the trial version most of the time anyway.

Hopefully some of the gamers who submit very detailed reviews will show up here. I don't do that type of review. I have a few M3 games that are like this. I think they are among the best M3 games on Big Fish. This game was a definite buy for me. I don't care a whole lot about a storyline in a M3 game like this, so whether or not it's good or bad doesn't concern me much. Game play is of paramount importance. I am not having any problems with the graphics, so I guess you'll just have to try the trial version to see for yourself. To me, this is a M3 game that thinks outside the box which I find very engaging.
