I agree with all the other complaints about resources spawning in different locations, the slowness of the game, and the characters seeming too large for the playing area.
I found an additional problem that no-one else has mentioned. The buildings all give 4 of whatever they produce, regardless of what level the building is at. So what is the point of upgrading the buildings, when they don't give any extra resources when you do?
I love this type of game, but I won't be buying this one, not as a CE and not as an SE either. And I won't be wasting a game club credit on it either - I'd rather let the game club credit expire than use it to get this game. :(
I don't recommend this game.

I trialed this one not expecting to like it, but I played the entire demo and was really disappointed when it suddenly ended, so I've bought it with a GCC.
It may appear childish at first sight, but even on the easiest play level I had to use the hint button a few times.
It's a game made up of many puzzles, and while young children may like the graphics, I don't think they could solve many of the puzzles without help.
Anyway, I am 67 and I've been playing computer games since 1982, and I'm really enjoying it, so my advice is for people to at least try the demo - you may be as pleasantly surprised as I have been.
I recommend this game!

I was very disappointed with this game. I love the pixel art puzzles so I was thrilled when I saw there was a new type of the same kind of game.
But this one is the exception to the rule. The 'pixels' are enormous compared to those of the 'pixel art' games, and that makes the pictures very fuzzy.
Also, the colours seemed very dark - so much so that the fuzzy dark pictures that I completed didn't make me feel the least bit happy when I looked at the end results.
So, I'll stick with the pixel art games thank you, because at least I enjoy colouring and then looking at the pics in those, whereas the pics in this game are just plain ugly and depressing.
This one's a 'no buy' for me, not even with a GCC.
I don't recommend this game.

The demo pics are not for Spellarium 6, they are left over from Daydream Mosaics which was the previous day's game.
Luckily the download link did update to Spellarium 6, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. It's always nice to see a new Spellarium game, they never seem to have technical problems and always work well.
I think someone with a fiendishly clever mind must work out the layout of the levels, as I sometimes struggle to figure out where I should start, but if I struggle too long the game darkens and leaves only the starting point bright, which is a huge help.
My thanks to the game creators - keep 'em coming, please. :)
I recommend this game!

I love these games. The first one I ever bought was 'Honeysuckle Hotel' and it got me so hooked that I still play it now, 20 plus years after I first bought it.
Similar games are 'Inspector Parker' and 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' (both of which I bought from BFG).
I have just played the demo of 'Witches, Wishes and Whispers' and used a GC credit to buy it. I am absolutely thrilled to have another game like the three I already own.
We need more games like this - bright, cheerful, and logical.
My thanks to the makers - and my hopes for a sequel!
I recommend this game!

Some reviewers have said this is a good game for children, and I don't disagree at all, it definitely is. BUT... it's a good game for adults too. I'm a pensioner and I have been enjoying it so much.
I love that there is an alternative to a limited number of steps - I won't even buy the ones that are limited steps only as I struggle to keep to the number allowed sometimes. Having a 'relaxed' mode was the first big positive for me.
I also love that the spiders, which usually frustrate me and end up making me stop playing, are beatable in this game - so far, anyway, and hopefully the rest of the game. I've passed the pirate ship now, so I'm well into the game.
The colours are bright and cheerful, so it's easy for old eyes to differentiate between the tiles, so that's another big positive for me.
If I were to say anything negative about the game it's that although you can turn off the music (which I always do) and the sound effects (which I never do), you can't reduce the sound effects volume, and it's a bit loud at 3am in the morning when people are sleeping in the flats above and below.
But that isn't a big enough problem for me to reduce any of the ratings, I'm just mentioning it so that if the people who made the game read my review, they will a) consider making a sequel, and b) hopefully include a slider control for the sound effects for people like me who have trouble sleeping and end up playing games when the rest of the world sleeps. :)
I recommend this game!

I replayed the original Alice in Wonderland only last week and wished there was another, and lo-and-behold, here is another!
What a wonderful Easter present for someone who hasn't got an Easter egg due to the lock-down.
I buy all of these type of games, the first Alice joined the ranks of Dracula and Northern Tales as my three favourites as far as game play goes, so a new Alice episode has absolutely made my day.
My only regret is that it wasn't released two days ago during the 65% off sale. :)
I recommend this game!

Oh WOW!! This reminds me so much of Diablo 1, which I loved. I've come out of the demo at 30 mins so I can buy it, but I'm leaving this review ahead of buying the game as once it's bought I'm going straight back into the dungeon and I'm not coming out for a week - and even then, I'll probably make a new profile and do it all again :D
It's an explore the dungeon / fight the baddies / level up when you have enough points / collect the goodies game.
The intro was great too, it is a paper world in a pop-up book - and the town parts are done that way too, but if you don't like pop-up books don't be put you off, the dungeon parts are done like in Diablo.
Everything worked perfectly (no crashes or other problems) there's a map you can switch on by pressing the 'tab' key, you can customise a lot of settings, there are people in the town to help / advise / sell you stuff and if you want a good laugh, check the 'expert' stats tab - one of them is the percentage chance of getting diarrhoea, and some of the others are equally strange - but the one at the bottom does give clarity, lol.
Off to buy now - anyone who likes Diablo and similar dungeon games, do try the demo at least, as you might like it as much as I do. :)
I recommend this game!

This game is beautiful, and I had no technical problems whilst playing it.
If someone told me it was made by whoever makes the 'Christmas Stories' range of games (that I absolutely love) I would not be a bit surprised, because the game-play and the exquisite graphics both remind me of those games - and given how much I love those games, it's a real treat to get a game so similar in the middle of the year.
I recommend that those who also love the 'Christmas Stories' range of games at least give this one a try, as I'm sure you'll love it too. :)
I recommend this game!

The previous reviewer says this one is an old game, but I've never seen it before (and I have over 2000 games spanning many years from BFG). That said, it could be an old game and I just didn't notice it last time it was released.
Anyway, as I didn't have it already, I decided to give it a try anyway, and although it plays a bit slower than most of this type of game (maybe that's why it might seem old) that gave me time to think and decide what the best thing to do next was.
Maybe 'old-fashioned' would be a better description, but even then, it didn't stop me enjoying the game to the point that I was really disappointed when the time ran out, so I bought it immediately so that I could go on playing.
The graphics are clear and not too cluttered, and I did have to restart one level when I dug up the wrong hole and left myself with not enough wood to dig up the right hole, so after that I made use of the pause at the beginning (see helpful hint at the end of this post) to plan my route.
On the technical side, I had no problems with it - it downloaded quick, installed with no trouble, and played as soon as I clicked 'play'.
Helpful hint: when you get into each level, the level starts in paused mode and you have to click the 'play' button to start playing. (It confused me at first, which is why I'm mentioning it).
I recommend this game!
