Good map; not a lot of hopping from one place to another.
Also this game does something I really like in HOPs and rarely find; it returned me again to an already-viewed HOP, but none of the items I had already found were back on the screen in the second visit.
Style was a bit different, but once I bought into it, really entertaining. Same is true for the "hints" in the dialogue box on the lower left. Once I got used to them, they are now my favorite kind of hints. Clicking on the box several times brought a limited about of new information to work with. But I liked that the hints were really HINTS and not solutions to whatever the present need was.
I am a fast reader, and liked not having to wait for cutscenes to finish out. I zipped through them at my own pace and enjoyed the dialogue between the two protagonists.
However, I do agree with other reviewers who said the intro was long and boring. Also, a map was definitely needed. WAY too much going back and forth to the river - six clicks each trip, and multiple trips.
There are definite hints at the end of the game that there will be a sequel. I hope the developers correct the shortcomings. If so, I will look forward to the next part of the story.
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.
A huge disappointment for MCF fans. Very little is intuitive about this game. Your best bet is not to buy it, but if you do, second best is to print the entire walkthrough and keep it beside you.
