So much collecting of random objects. And ridiculous combinations to find solutions to puzzles. Every time I went back to the game after a break, I needed to immediately use a hint as it was impossible to carry the story with me and remember to go back to where I'd left off. It had no rhyme or reason and I just couldn't maintain interest in it. It must have been meant for a much younger demographic than mine. And yet surely the subject should be able to provide some mystery, suspense and humour and be more appealing to adults. But there's just no imagination here. Same old..... On the plus side, the graphics are really good and there were no glitches in play. But it's not for me.
I don't want blood, guts and action when playing games, but not this either. I'm not sure why I never got in sync with the game but I found its theme of solving puzzles in order to try to heal a very sick child, dreary. It's out of whack with everything I want when playing games and it may have been that which made me find it difficult. Absolutely not for me and I wouldn't ever again play even a trial of a game with a similar theme. I want to relax, and switch off from the world of reality when playing games.
Despite several negative reviews I thought it was worth giving the trial a go, and I'm really enjoying the game so far. I had no problems with the game progressing after the 'knot' puzzle and wonder if it might be the order in which you choose to complete tasks that could be causing the problem. (Just a guess based on what's happened to me in a couple of games over time). But I like the storyline, which is more realistic than many and the hints when needed are helpful, so I recommend giving this a try.
On the plus side, this game has the most beautiful graphics and the puzzles are interesting.
On the down side, some of those puzzles, like the hidden object games, have some pretty awful clues and led to a lot of hint usage. Oh and the soundtrack is pretty dire. Also did not play smoothly on my computer. Not sure what the issue is. Could be too graphics rich maybe, but the cursor was quite unresponsive at times and I seem to remember this being an issue in the last Mixo Twistingo game I played too. Jigsaw puzzles were especially difficult as I found it difficult to drag the pieces.
However it was pretty enough and interesting enough to enjoy the trial and I'm strongly considering buying the game. I recommend it with caution and maybe make sure to use the trial fully before making up your mind completely.
There's just no fun in this story. It has a very standard storyline for Christmas. The bah humbug character was there, but the aim to regain and reopen a toy store was uninspiring. The soundtrack helped not one bit. It was mostly dreary. One or two of the puzzles were fun but most were not intuitive for me and I spent a lot of time using hints. And they weren't very direct when I received them, either. It felt slow, boring and pointless. Didn't even know how to rate on the Level of Challenge bar. Was it 5 because the challenges were impossible to decipher, or was it only a 1 because I just couldn't be bothered?
Here it is, happiness day, Christmas 2024! Same formula, same format, same music, (like singing all of your favourite Christmas carols), and same familiar characters. It's warm, comforting, no surprises, no silly story lines, just a few hours of familiar relaxation. Trying to restrain myself from zipping through the game too fast so the magic lasts longer on the run-up to Christmas itself. You either love Christmas Wonderland or hate it. I think you've probably guessed - I love it!
Enjoyed the first few challenges of the game as things started out with a somewhat practical story, and then it all became a mega-bore. As have most of MCF games for a long time now. I couldn't concentrate any more on the tasks at hand because it quickly developed into such silly disjointed story which held no interest, and there's an overwhelming number of locations in which to search for utterly stupid items. It all led to repeated clicking on the hint button to the extent that I wasn't really playing the game any more. So I quit. Oh is there no-one out there who could revive the original spirt of MCF games? This game is not for the mature gamer. If you are young and on the wave length of the current genre of MCF then I think you'll probably have a better chance of enjoying it. But very mediocre to me.
I just loved the earlier episodes of Twistingo, but, unusually, I didn't even get to the end of the Blue Moon trial game. I think that the graphics remain super but I'm bored rigid with hidden object games and this just didn't float my boat.
Ok it's the same formula as always, but maybe that's the charm. No adventure, no scariness, no tenison, but a relaxing fun way to spend time, accompanied by a sound track that's pretty good and appropriate for the game. I suspect you'll either love this genre of games or think it's a waste of time. I am firmly in the 1st category and hope to enjoy many more in this series. It's almost like a meditation. I don't have to think at all and I am totally absorbed in what I'm doing. Lovely!
What has me eagerly awaiting the next chapter in this adventure? After all, in every episode, the municipal worker is always underneath that metal manhole cover! It's a variety of reasons. In a way familiarity is comforting and I know what to expect, and none of it is scary or over-difficult. Most of the music is catchy and keeps you playing, there's no-one else involved in play but me, so no competition stress and there's enough new content every time to keep me coming back. So, as I click on that metal manhole cover once again, and mentally say 'out you come' and see the municpal worker ticked off my list, I know there will be other, more challenging things to find. Keep 'em coming. It's old, it's good, it's familiar and I love it, every time!
