This game was very disappointing. And I bought it for $3!
- This was really short
- Really really easy.
I don't like the cut scenes but then that's a personal preference.
But trying to be positive
- It did have nice mini puzzles (albeit it too easy)
- self contained 5 chapters to the story, so if you have 20 mins to spare you can do an entire chapter.
If you like more adventure/puzzle type games than straight hidden object games, like simple puzzles, or are new to IHOG and don't mind that it's short, or a teenager or child then you may like it.
I don't recommend this game.

I really enjoyed it. I also liked the first one.
The scenes are all contained (don't have to spend too much time looking for them). The puzzles are better than the first (I love the stick drawings where you have to push buttons to 'tell' the story in the right order). The 'put the buttons' in the right hole mini game is boring though.
There are 2 "E" cards in each hidden object scene to find.
The hidden object scene is a reversed one. You have a list of items and you have to find out where in the scene it goes. I LOVE THIS - my favourite kind of hidden object scene.
It's a really good length. I am a bit bored with straight H O games now (overplayed them) and now looking for something different which this gives. This has NO standard hidden object scenes at all.
It's different, not hard.
CONS -
sparkles
The unique play for this game makes it one of my favourites in this genre.
I recommend this game!

I really enjoyed this game. It has 5 different chapters. Five people have gone missing while investigating and you have to go and try and find them. Each chapter has a new location, so each area you are in, there isn't much backtracking (compared to others). And is contained, so you can't get too lost.
It has a nice pace and it's not too hard. For those liking less hidden object scenes and more mini games, this is for you. There isn't any original puzzles and I do wish there was a reset button on them but they were enjoyable.
The hint button was really good. In normal play (Not hidden object scenes) when you hit the hint button, it gave you a list of things which you could pick from to get a hint related to it.
The storyline I thought was ridiculous, but it didn't matter and ended up being quite interesting seeing what some people believe, however 'out there' it is. And it was different.
This took me a good while (about 5hrs, no skipping and reading everything), it wasn't short which quite a few recent games have been. There is no way IMO this should have been a CE, even with an extra chapter in it. It has the feel of the older H O puzzle game. But for a SE, and if you have extra credits waiting to spend, then this is a fun game.
Rating B- game (good, entertaining game)
I recommend this game!

OK I do try and be fair and objective in reviews (usually) so I think it's best here for me to do the pros and cons.
On a personal note, this game on paper I should love it - it's an adventure game by big fish but I don't.
I don't hate it, just leaves me between OK and annoyed.* I just expected more.
these graphics look old. I don't mind cartoon graphics (I love Nick Chase games) but there is no depth to them. But if that was all, it wouldn't bother me as much, as spirit soup had older graphics and I enjoyed that. I think it is a combination of a few things - it is FROGesque (I usually hate FROGs). And because of the simple graphics when you are in a scene, it's mind numbingly easy to see all you have to pick up.
PROs
- built in guide, with progressive hints, although not a complete walkthrough it's nice to see this in a SE.
- puzzles had an easy mode, an immediate skip, so pleases everybody
-It's widescreen
-Finding envelopes to get journal updates (would be great if future morph object games tied that in) although they were SO obvious to find.
CONs
-It's short (not, it's so short I wouldn't buy it)
-I played on the adventure mode it said active zones not highlighted. There were sparkles! even if it took a few seconds to activate, shouldn't be any
-the idea of some of the puzzles were good, but the execution in some were lacking. I love puzzles but because of this, it annoyed me*.
-too easy - picking up objects in a scene
-the 'blah' graphics, just needed some more work in making them 'deeper'.
Just too easy for me and missing that 'x' factor. The mystery of why some games leave you cold and others you love even despite their cons. But do demo it, I know many will enjoy it.
Light game - candyfloss. "C" rating for me.
I don't recommend this game.

I loved this game. The dossier games are completely different to the normal Nancy Drew games - lighter more fun.
I was expecting the normal nancy drew (the frustration and back and forth to see what you do in what order, which wastes time. I still like them though!) but this was so different. It's more linear, clear what you have to do. Sparkles which I usually hate, were helpful here* and only showed up once your cursor went over it. It was fun, from the graphics to the puzzles, more laid back than the 'normal' Nancy Drew games.
I was dreading the snakes but those turned out to be very cartoonish and I was OK with them. I liked that you had try for achievment which changed the story at the end -
*Clicking on the right order of things in a scene gave you bonus points. Also you got bonus points for following the plot, if you answered the questions correctly.
There are 3 (I think) different timed areas which was very tight. And I understand the frustration they caused. There was the crows, and then lighting the candles which you had to replay later and the timer got even tighter. There should have been a skip button for them. But I printed out the crows screenshot (search for it in a walkthrough) which really helped.
when you finish all the puzzles open up for replay.
For a completely different type of gameplay, fun not hard (apart from the timed areas) I give this an A-. If you could skip the puzzles and timed areas, I would give it an A.
I recommend this game!

This is a charming little game. Not easy enough to get bored by, but easy enough not to need a walkthrough and if you are looking for a different paced to the normal HOPAs this is it. What I really enjoyed about it -
-The cartoon graphics. Graphics usually are not my taste not this one.
-The mix of frog and normal hidden object scenes and I normally don't like FROGs.
- Having to collect coins throughout the game
- Actually having something to spend the coins on at the end of game
-Freemode, to go into any chapter when you complete the game
not so good -
-Sparkles
Ending It wasn't abrupt as in, you knew you were near the end of the last chapter and that you would get the last piece of canvas and that would be the finish. I was fine with it as it did explain as you went along the story.
- spoiler - That the boy would be returned if you got the canvas back (or hinted at) and that the villian was invading other worlds as well.
The ending was one cutscene with one sentence. So those wanting a wrap up of what was said during the game or a bit more background information will be disappointed.
It could have been fleshed out a bit more but at least it didn't give me a big teaser - that I was missing out on a huge plot and that I should buy the CE version.(aka FACES)
That would have annoyed me, whereas this was OK with me.
A nice, good B- game for me.
I recommend this game!

A HOPA game that is trying to bring something new to the table. The evidence wall. I found that refreshing as you really did have to follow what you picked up and the storyline. (Of course I only found out half way through the game that I didn't need to go back to the hotel room to access the wall but I just needed to hit the evidence button )
The graphics actually had some colour to them, and not that 'wash' a lot of game graphics have. The only minor irritation I had was the noise of that bell every time you went near the church.
It does have a map which helps but it's not a transporter map.
The end I didn't really like, I like everything to be tied up and not set up for sequels.
Really enjoyable B+ (lack of interactive map ie to move around and junk pile hidden object scenes bring the score down a bit for me).
I recommend this game!

I loved it! It was so much fun, the characters well written and a bit sarky with each other. It has the feel of a fairytale story but with some 'sass'.
I liked the puzzles it was quite puzzle heavy which I appreciate. The hidden object scenes were at the most part, not junk scenes.
I loved the story, how the plot was incorporated. I loved the unexpected ending!
I recommend this game!

This is a weird game.
The problem with it, is nothing seems to be done very well - like in an A game. It wants to be both a hidden object game and an adventure. But unlike modern HOPAs this is just disjointed and doesn't accomplish either very well.
The story is like "the fall triology" mixed with (take your pick from many games with waking up as a patient in a ward) same storyline of other games.
But I actually was drawn in by the story, it just wasn't edited very well - to long and thought if they kept the main/initial plot mystery going longer it would have been better, but the title gives it away.
You can skip the story parts, but then you'd be lost.
It's not bad in parts, it's just not good.
I don't know anything about the DEV, if it's a first game, very old game, or even who it is. The hidden object scenes were 'photo object' type and just didn't appeal to me ( ie said twine/string that you would use for parcels was rope). The adventure side in parts I thought was OK (not good)
Why some good games just leave you bored, and other bad/not great games can suck you in, I don't know. It's sort of sucked me in and quite enjoyed it. despite my negatives.
I just couldn't recommend it at full price. I got it as a DD.
I don't recommend this game.

I love this series , apart from the first one which was just a straight HOG. This is so well done, from the story to the interactions and puzzles. It's not an adventure game. I wouldn't say this was a straightish HOG either.
There are no junk piles in hidden object scenes -yeah!
And it's not like the other hidden object games, where you get so bored with lists and the same type scenes.
And I HATE straight hogs. But somehow just don't think of these as that, as they are different in how it is - the scene you are in, or making you collect something ie flowers, has to do with your job and that there isn't a junk pile (sorry bears repeating!) or obvious hidden object scene.*
But they have my favourite 'straight' hidden object scenes, when they use the painting*. I LOVE that, such a beautiful piece of art and a clever way to do a H O.
I love the wedding you have to plan in between scenes/things to do and that you can choose either a cake, or wedding dress etc.
It's also lighthearted, bright and cheery and romantic. So most men or people that don't like weddings/romantic things or games, are obviously not going to like it. I am a romantic and love these things, and this is just done so well.
If the only thing that has stopped you trying these games is the fact they are straight hogs, then do try this as you may like me, be surprised and enjoy them.
I recommend this game!
