I played the demo until time ran out. I have to disagree with Pennmom on a few points - I didn't encounter any functional glitches, I didn't have any trouble clicking on the three eyes, and I didn't have to make any special effort to click on the center of objects. I was able to complete all of the scenes and puzzles during the demo without skipping any. A couple times I had to make a few attempts to place the special object (like the paint brush on the painting), but it was really no big deal. The violins in the music became quite piercing after a while so I had to turn down the volume of the music. Like another reviewer said, some of the words the developer used to describe objects was bizarre - a "cloud breather" is apparently what we in the U.S. call a fire extinguisher. The artwork was bright and well done, and was a refreshing change from the gloomy dark scenes in so many hidden object games. This is a decent game for beginners, but I prefer a bit more challenge finding hidden objects so I won't be buying this one, at least not until it's available as a SE.
I wasn't even going to try the demo when I read all of the awful reviews, but then I had to see for myself. First, the hidden object scenes and mini games require little to no effort to complete. They are the easiest I've ever played. The storyline is absurd at times, but the translations are worth hanging in there for. They are hilariously bad. I can't recommend anyone spend their money on this one though.
I love all the Vacation Adventure games and this one is no exception. The scenes are bright and happy and I don't have to think very much, which is a welcome relief especially now. Now I'm ready for the next Cruise Director!
Certainly not the most challenging game, but definitely fun. This is the first time the conversation between characters has actually made me laugh out loud. If hidden object entertainment is what you want, this is a great game.
I don't understand all the negative reviews. The hint compass works fine if you CLICK on it, not hover over it! The scenes are bright and cheerful. Yes some of the items are small, but I managed to find everything with the occasional hint. The end is oddly abrupt, however. It would be nice if Casual Arts added a few more scenes to wrap up the story and re-released it. That's my only complaint. Enjoy!
I love the bright, sunny scenes - they make me happy! Like the other Vacation Adventure games and others from Casual Arts, Cruise Director is just fun. No picking up tools and figuring out what to do with them, no creepy characters, no dark storyline. I've been waiting for Cruise Director 5 to be released and I'm not disappointed! Enjoy!
I'm a huge fan of Madame Fate, Ravenhearst and Prime Suspects and this game is very similar. I don't like games where every scene is dark. Also if a game is hard enough to offer a Strategy Guide, that's a deal killer for me. I like mindless hidden object gameplay, I'm not trying to split the atom. I get irritated with going back and forth in one dark scene after another, pick this up, take it somewhere else, try to figure out where to go next, blah blah blah. Linear, brighter games like Rewind are more my style and I liked this one very much.
One annoying thing in Rewind was the cinematic that preceded opening the door to every scene, but you could skip it. And I would have preferred a higher degree of difficulty with the HO scenes. I didn't have to use any hints during the entire game so that should tell you something. Some of the puzzles were mindbenders, but you could skip those too.
I what I described is the type of game you like, then I recommend MCF Rewind.
