I first came to Big Fish more years ago than I can count and, in the beginning, I exclusively played HO games. But in the past few years they've become more and more cookie cutter and less and less enjoyable (has anyone else noticed the pink / blue / purple tint to all the scenes?!). I eventually began branching out and playing more time management and match 3 games, and while these genres do also tend to follow a proven formula, I still find games that innovate, or are at least a well thought through package. This is one of those games.
First, you can play this game in a variety of modes - on a timer, with limited moves, or with neither. On my first play through, I played with a timer, and while there were a few levels I struggled with, for the most part I was able to complete the level without running out of time (if you do run out of time, you can replay the level, or use gems to pay for more time).
Visually, the game is beautiful. Each vegetable, fruit, animal and decoration is rendered with lovely details. When crops are ready to be harvested, they sway and glitter, and each farm animal does a funny animation when they're ready to be milked, sheared, etc (the cows are the best). The in-match sounds and visuals are SO satisfying; that's such an integral part of a match 3 game, and I feel like the developers were really thoughtful about that aspect. There are power-ups, but instead of earning them with matches, you buy them with gems, which I actually really liked - knowing I had to buy them made me less willing to use them (even though I never got close to running out of gems).
I could go on and on about this game, but I'll mention one last "pro" before mentioning a few tiny cons. Once you get through all the levels, or "orders," you can start all over again from the beginning by clicking on the order board! I know that sounds like a minor thing, but I was worried I would finish all the levels and the game would just end, without my having completed my Farming Vision. But never fear! You can replay any of the levels, continue to earn money, and buy one of everything!
I do have just a few very minor pieces of constructive feedback. I do wish that placement of objects was a bit more manipulable - you can't turn an item to face in each of the 4 directions, only two. I do also wish that you didn't have to click on the move icon to move things, but could just drag and drop. That being said, I do understand that, since you drag to move around the game world, it would be easy to accidentally grab and move something without meaning to.
Overall, this is an outstanding game and, having finished it, I plan to replay it immediately and try a different layout for my farm. :) I'd love to see more from this developer!
I recommend this game!

I'm glad I waited to write this review. When I first started playing, I thought: this is the best match three game I've played in ages!! The story is a bit trite, sure, but I love the visuals enough that it made me more invested in the story. Things were sailing along until I got to Level 89. I know that you can technically "win" a level by getting all the elements you need, but if you can't clear the board, you don't get potions, and without those you can turn "totems" back into people. What's more, it's not FUN playing a level 20+ times. Like another reviewer mentioned, I wish there was a time limit option (instead of move limit), or even a "no pressure" option, where you could play with unlimited moves and time. It'd still be a fun challenge to see if you could beat your previous number of moves.
I recommend this game!

Epistory immerses you in an atmospheric action/adventure game where you play a girl riding a giant fox who fights an insectile corruption from an origami world.

This game is visually beautiful and unique, has an interesting game mechanic for expanding the world, and has an intriguing story - a rare thing indeed on Big Fish. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing half a day's worth of a formulaic match three or HO game. But games that actually inspire me to write a review are few and far between. Parts of this game are challenging (e.g. some of the puzzles), and took me some time to figure out, but there's nothing that brought me to a full stop. I'd love to see more games like this on Big Fish, and I hope the number of high ratings for this game will equate to that.
I recommend this game!
