I absolutely love the direction that GrandMa is going with the MCF series, yes there's still room for improvement but that's what we have been getting with each new installment. The art style, as with all of their games is gorgeous and the soundtrack in this one was beautiful! the story was great too! Very excited for more :)
From such a once trusted developer and a well-loved series, this finale was so disappointing. The visuals were janky at times and the soundtrack was just a complete copy of the last few games. This didn't even feel like a Haunted Hotel game at times and the main villain was barely present throughout. The scenes were bland and boring and the Hotel itself just felt so generic. They could have really fleshed out so much of the game. The receptionist for example, where did he go? Show us more ghosts! Haunted Hotel, it's been fun, but this game was sadly anything but. Hopefully, Elephant Games changes their outlook on developing these games or else there is no point anymore. This was about two hours of gameplay maximum. We know you can do better, just show us you can, please.
I usually love MCF, but this one just did not work for me, unfortunately. I found the game to be very slow and felt like I was dragging myself through it at times. The visuals were so bland as well, nothing interesting at all. Such a shame as well as the storyline looked very promising!
I'm really not sure whether or not to recommend this game but I will give it the benefit of the doubt as it may have just not been for me.
Honestly, when I played the first Harrowed Halls games 8 wondered how it could get any better than that......this....this game is how it gets better because this is absolutely phenomenal. The story is spot on but I’d rather not talk too much about it because spoiling it would really ruin the haunting story that’s been presented. The visuals and soundtrack are spot on and the puzzles are challenging and varied. A brilliant, terrifying game.
Seriously, GrandMa studios are one of my favourite HOPA game developers around and I’m so so happy they’ve been chosen to continue MCF. They did a fantastic job as per usual as Harbinger still feels very much like a MCF game but with the more vibrant colours and feel of a GrandMa game. Now I do understand the bad reviews as it does feel different to Eipix but honestly that’s a good thing in my opinion. Too much of a good thing eventually becomes boring so having an MCF game that’s slightly different is a refreshing change. I can not recommend this game enough!
This game is absolutely phenomenal and is really an example of HOPAs at their finest. The story really kept me gripped throughout and is genuinely emotional in places (Something that is very rare in these types of games). I would seriously recommend this to anyone. This game easily holds up to today's high standards as well, it doesn't feel dated in any way.
