I like this type of game as a relief from the stresses of the day and COVID-induced boredom. Always reliable entertainment. I don't believe a HOG is ever worth the CE price. It has excellent replay value so, for me, playing the game again is as good as getting the extra locations.
The excellent graphics display beautiful, vivid colors for each location and the trivia info is always a feature I enjoy. The challenge is quite good, but I never had trouble spotting the Flags and Bears. The music is a catchy little tune that soon became a Johnny-one-note sound that had to go. I love watching the scores escalate as my points are shown at the end of each round. A good incentive for me, as I strive for that perfect game.
I enjoyed the mini-games though few were in the demo which seemed to just fly by, but it was a good sampling of what to expect in the main game. There were no tech issues and response was quick throughout the demo. This HOG plays the same as all the others I own of this nature, so I will be content waiting for the SE to arrive.
I'll leave the in-depth details to the other reviewers who will surely do a splendid job of it. Being a native CA gal, it was fun seeing a bit of it in this game and I'm happy for my memories of its good old days.
If you love dragons, this story will certainly please you. Travel to 3 different worlds and a dragon invasion provide the adventure. The game is well paced as the story unfolds providing excellent HOPs and fun puzzles. There was an alternative Match 3 if you want to skip over the HOPs.
I tried the Match 3, it was good, but I preferred the HOPs which were beautiful and very creative. There was a bit of humor which got a chuckle out of me, in the form of a sleeping book and a little dragon buddy that lights things up along the way, a fun little distraction as the chaos of the dragon fury blazed on that didn't seem out of place in the story.
The graphics were excellent and the beautiful scenes, this time, weren't as saturated with Domini's trademark green and purple hues. A good thing, I think! No interference from tech issues in this very entertaining game. I bought the CE, it didn't have many extras so the SE would've been just fine with me. I was anxious for a new game at the time, otherwise I would have waited.
This game can be played by all, regardless of skill level or age. The story was a fun romp into another realm that kept me interested (I'm really not a dragon fan), so that surprised me and I enjoyed it to the end.
and it provides the mystery in this intriguing story, that takes us to a realm of islands, whose conflicting inhabitants are about to meet Ben, the self-appointed peace-maker. Well, in the demo, I found nothing to be "the best", but Mad Head added some creative touches that made it interesting.
The adventure had many activities to move the game along, lots of searching for items. You acquire a zipline tool and knife to help with your travel to and from locations. But zipline travel is nothing new to games. I found the graphics to be very clear with tropical scenes full of rich, beautiful color. I enjoyed checking out all the detail.
I had fun with the demo's HOPs and puzzles, none were especially challenging. The CE extras were pretty decent this time and the collectibles were easy enough to find. It may be a long game with all the activities and travelling around the islands. But I'm afraid the story will be pared down to accommodate the misc content. It happens frequently in games, leaving me with the feeling of reading a good book only to find half the pages missing.
I will wait for a better sale to purchase. The demo didn't show an adequate amount of adventure, but it ran fine with no tech issues. I think this game will appeal to all ages with its sci-fi feel and link to the Bermuda Triangle.
you won't find them here. This solitaire game is a glaring example of the lazy developers that seem to have overtaken Big Fish Games. Isn't BFG interested in quality anymore? Very sad, indeed! Pennmom laid it all out on the table for this one, and they are my sentiments exactly!
Not a trace of Red Roding Hood in the game but, on that note, why don't we have more games aimed at adults? I'm so tired of all the fairytale themes. Minimal features in this solitaire, there are a variety of card backs. 200 levels of ho-hum play, trophies to earn, 3 Shop Bonuses include the Joker which comes with a hefty price tag. And the worst feature in any solitaire, the awful Gold Cards that end the game prematurely!
I will no longer support a dev who puts quality and the customer reviews at the bottom of their priority list. However, if you have never tried one of their games before, you might find it very enjoyable. Solitaire is still always a good game for relaxing entertainment. I just need more than this dev offers.
Whoever thought this was a good idea, is in serious need of a new thinking cap!! There is no way I will spend money on puzzles with pictures of food, food and more food. I had no desire to assemble a puzzle or check out any of the features. The graphics are sharp, the colors are nice and bright, there are 500 images to keep you busy. Maybe these puzzles will appeal to chefs, bakers, restaurateurs, caterers. This really takes the cake (pun intended)! Please, Big Fish! You can do better than this for your puzzle-loving fishies!
Some years ago I read an adaptation of Pride and Prejudice involving vampires and zombies and another of President Lincoln caught up in battle with the creatures of darkness. They were very different and entertaining because the author could delve deeply into the story and not skimp to make it fit into a certain number of pages. Even though this game is quite long, it doesn't provide enough story since it has to leave room for games, activities, etc. This story needs more time to develop and, in my opinion, is a poor choice for a game.
For once, there are more HOPs than puzzles, but too much of a good thing turned into tedium here. There should be a better ratio of HOPs and games. The graphics were so-so, the characters were not interesting enough and I didn't care for the voices. The scenes were colorful and very busy, hiding the items needed to complete the many tasks. I became tired of searching and the fun dwindled away.
There's only one collectible, none of the HOPs or puzzles can be replayed, and the usual CE extras are missing. Based on the storyline, I purchased the game but found it disappointing and certainly not worthy of the extra cost. I uninstalled before reaching the Bonus Chapter. However, this may be perfect for you if looking for a very long game, lots of tasks, and don't mind the shortage of CE bling.
in this remake of Living Legends: Frozen Beauty. It's a top-notch game that's sure to please the fantasy fans. I purchased the original in 2013 and enjoyed it immensely. Without an evil queen, fairytales would be pretty boring. This take on Snow White and the poison apple provides plenty of entertainment.
The original still works with Windows 10 for me, so I feel no need to own the new version. In the CE demo, I noticed updates in the graphics and some of the features but I felt the changes aren't significant enough to justify rebuying the game.
It's a beautiful game with lots to do, the story will keep you interested, the visuals are beautiful, and there's lots to keep you busy. The HOPs and puzzles won't disappoint and I really don't think the SE version will be less entertaining without the CE extras. It's the story and the adventure that counts at least for me, though I prefer the CE for the Bonus Chapter and Guide. The characters, voices, music, activities are excellent in my opinion. This age-old story can be enjoyed by all regardless of age or skill level, as the game isn't "dark" nor is it very challenging.
so I didn't find this game to be so spectacular. It was a love story in the sense that a loving wife set out to rescue her husband after his disappearance, along with the theater company. I saw more evil than love displayed in the storyline during her search as she uncovered the evil doings of Radcliffe, its bad-guy owner.
The demo moved along at a decent pace with its many tasks. The scenes were colorful and interesting, graphics were nice and sharp. I liked the characters, they were well depicted and I thought the voices were good. A dragon hangs around to help out by breaking the spell of each of the 5 cursed script books. Something a bit different! Music was okay.
I was put off by the number of mini-games since I'm not a puzzle lover. The ones in the demo were not tedious and several were familiar to me, so I survived! There was a good variety of HOPs, couple of mini HOP scenes. They were creative and quite interactive so I enjoyed them all. There are 52 each of the two collectibles and the search was fun, average challenge. I loved the indicator bar that keeps track of the collectibles for us. A great feature! I hate leaving a scene thinking I missed something, sometimes not allowed to backtrack to pick it up.
The usual 4 challenge levels including the Custom means anyone can play this game. I think it's suitable for most ages, the evil content not over-done. If not for it being advertised as a love-themed story, I probably would purchase. Since mystery and adventure didn't seem to be involved, I felt it's not a good choice for me. Maybe the next game from this fine developer will be right up my alley!
DEJAVU!! Another inferior puzzle game that will never be anything BUT inferior until the need for changes is acknowledged To begin with "Earth Chronicles" is not a fitting title. The beauty of our wonderous planet is not represented here. The only change I see with today's release, is the date!!
Granted, the colors are bright and beautiful and there are lots of puzzles. But that just doesn't matter when so much is flawed. One category has some pics of nature and animals, but in those I saw repeats from earlier releases. Am I wrong to expect images of animals, birds, nature, sea life, exotic landscapes, people of other countries donning their traditional costumes? I think not!
I am so sick of unappealing staged settings, ridiculous models, food, buildings, holidays etc, etc. They don't belong in "Earth Chronicles". I want to see nature in all its glory, I want puzzles that are fun to assemble. Always the same features, sometimes placing the pieces is a struggle, sorting them is a tedious task, there is no challenge to the small puzzle sizes. My huge pet peeve is that after completion the puzzle vanishes in the blink of an eye. Poof! It's gone! No save option to use as a wallpaper.
I simply don't understand why we continually get a product that is so unsatisfactory. Why the negative reviews don't generate an effort to fix it. Why BF even supports this dev. I will no longer review "Earth Chronicles" since our opinions are evidently of no concern.
You'll enjoy this game if looking for something to fill some idle hours and if the content isn't really all that important. Otherwise, there are far better ones, created by people who are not lazy and want to please.
What a vast difference from the other paint/color by number games currently available at BFG. I own many but I'm never satisfied with the features, not to mention the poor quality and small size of the finished images. I've been wishing for some quality changes to occur and it has finally happened!
I made a mad dash for the Buy Button after the demo and I'm very pleased, so far, as I continue with the game. The other devs in this genre should follow the lead and get busy sprucing up their games in response to our requests. Awigor has created some stiff competition, IMO, and hopefully they will be here for a long, long time with Art By Numbers and other paint by number games.
I'm mentioning a few things here that I really love, beginning with the Freeplay section. What a fun time painting with your own color choices, choosing from a full-scale color palette to unharness your imagination. Art By Numbers 2 gives us 72 images and no black, ugly lines chopping them up. The paintbrush cursor works in the regular way or use it like a real brush, movement is not "sticky" like in many of these art games. Choose a flat or textured finish for your artwork, I love the textured for a little extra flair but I like to use both. You can pick the shading for the colored areas, which I appreciate. The finished image is framed in a blue and gold embossed frame, a nice touch that I really like. The wide array of colors brings life to our "canvas" with beautiful shading and nice detail. The added depth makes the image so much nicer and makes painting more of a rewarding experience.
Give the demo a try. The game is fun and relaxing, a nice break from the busier games. All skill levels can enjoy with ease, kids can paint without the mess, and I think it is great for learning about color value.
